View Full Version : Food Is Just Sitting There...

Hi,
I need feedback on my situation.
Immediately after eating something it feels like the food is stuck somewhere in my lower digestive track. I drink a lot of liquid to try to push the clump of food down to the stomach but it feels like its just stuck there above my stomach (does this make sense?). What helps temporarily is my drinking a room-temperature 7UP soda. I do not experience pain--just discomfort. I burp with no problem and have regular bowel movements. It just feels like the food I eat is just sitting there--but not in my stomach. I can't figure out if its GERD or something else more serious. I've tried Maalox, Mylanta, and Tums none of which helps. I do have PD and anxiety so I'm thinking the worst. I read that stress and anxiety can cause digestive problems. I've made an appointment with a gastro doctor this Friday.

Has anyone else experienced this as well???

Your esophagus that is 9 1/2 inches long is directly connected to your stomach. If it does not reach your stomach then you must be choking because it just cannot stay in your esophagus. It just has to be getting to your stomach!!! some food particles can get caught in your throat and it is called Nut Cracker Syndrome--- but it will cause pain and frequent choking.

Could you desribe your symptoms in more detail? What is PD?
