(First time on the board) Here's some of my symptoms inside tremors at bedtime Waking up right when I go to sleep trying to catch my breath. (Had a sleep study done) Nothing. This is been going on for about 2 years. Pain by my gall bladder. Which I had check out its not my gall bladder!! Light headedness. I get warm sensations not really hot flashes where I'm sweating.
Has anyone had any of these symptoms.

I have this and yes, it is very perimenopause. And I would say that you have it with anxiety. It is the anxiety that is causing your body to tremble, it's like a vibrating machine, I know. The breath too is anxiety. Try to research on breathing from the diaphragm, this will help you greatly. Everything begins with the breath. Now this can be an on and off thing or a continuous thing with perimenopause, so I suggest you find vitamins that work for you, read as much as you can, a good book is called "The Pause" and it will go through everything you are feeling. Also, read up on anxiety and find ways to not pay attention to your body, cause your body will keep trying to make you feel anxious and what you have then is a vicious circle, LOL Anything else I can do to help, let me know.

Hi Andrea,
Thanks for the info. I just went to the doctors and he said there's no way I'm menopause, or peri menopause, but why would my body do all these crazy things all of a sudden.
Thanks again.

First of all, what type of doc did u see? Also, your age alone makes you perimenopause even if you weren't feeling a thing in your body. The answer to your question is that anxiety causes these body tremors. But you are perimenopause. I'm not a doctor, but your age alone identifies it. It begins at the age of 35 when ovulation doesn't occur as frequently, but definitely at age 40! And you're 45!

Another point here, do not rely on all docs to diagnose perimenopause. Most don't believe in it. Generally, a women gyne is more supportive, one that is older who knows what it's all about. Even a female endo I saw regarding my thyroid said perimenopause with anxiety and that it can be real rough some times.

Welcome, I....
Yep, you're in peri-menopause! and I agree with everything Andrea posted to you. I had the same symptoms you described last year at the age of 50 and my doctors said it was "possible" that I was going through peri-menopause. Went to so many doctors and specialists - all I did was stressed myself out and worrying to the point where my anxiety got worse. Finally came to terms that I was going through some intense hormone changes and at the same time was extremely thankful that it was just that and nothing serious!
I hated those tremors or internal shakes at bedtime. I can understand how horrible you must be feeling. I used to dread going to sleep because that's when my symptoms were most unbearable! Each of us seem to be going through it differently but experiencing more or less similar symptoms. I think I'm pretty lucky - I went through it for only 5 months and been feeling fine since Jan. of this year.
I never took vitamins in my 30's or 40's and now I'm taking about 15 pills a day (yucks!)...I guess it makes a difference. Get the "Before the Change" book and try all the peri-zappers that the author suggests. If you need an anti-anxiety med or anti-depressant, do it - ask your dr. for a prescription of what would be best for you right now. Also, try to exercise everyday - it takes our mind off on how you are feeling...it helped me stop feeling those internal jitters and weak jelly legs. Whenever you feel anxious, take deep slow breaths! Keep us posted on how you are doing!

Hi again,
I feel a lot better hearing that I'm not crazy. I've talked to so many people about the tremors and no one has heard of that going through menupause. Anyways my doctor said he wants to check my thyroid for the tremors. More test for nothing probably. Have you ever dealt with the light headedness. I get headaches too real bad like pressure headaches in the back of my head and in my temples. Boy when I hit 40 I feel like i'm falling apart. I've also gained 30 lbs i can't take off. Oh well tomorrow i go to Myrtle Beach for a week. I need it
Take Care

Hi Eileen,
I experienced the lightheadness and headaches too. Hated the lightheadness and the headaches were bad - I felt it on the back of my head, front of my head and it lasted pretty much 24/7 for months. Go to sleep with them, wake up with them. Sometimes it felt like this band around my head - not a pounding ache either - hard to describe - more like pressure, I guess. I took every pain killer out there and nothing helped. Try taking Evening Primrose Oil - it is suppose to help rid headaches, and I think Magnesium too. Take them regularly and haven't had headaches like I did before.
I am mild hypothryoid and have been for years before I even started having my intense peri-meno symptoms. I think b/c of my thyroid condition, it really threw my hormones out of wack. I went to an Endo dr., had ultrasound done to my thyroid (they found 6 nodules) - everything was fine - drs. couldn't figure out why I was feeling so bad (extreme fatigue, intense internal shakes, lightheadness, no appetite, burning arms/legs, etc. etc.). I too feel much better once I found out there are others having those internal tremors. Just b/c it isn't as common as the famous hot flashes, drs. seem to know nothing about them.
Have a good time at Myrtle Beach - at least you're able to go out and do that! When I was having my time, it would take me about 4 hrs. before I could even get moving. I didn't work for almost 3 months, friends had to cook for me and get me to eat. As for your weight gain, that is normal - esp. around the stomach/thigh area. Think most of us are depressed over that!
Take care,
molly

Welcome to the board, Eileen,
I can only echo what the others said...I just turned 50 and have had symtpoms that I know started , now that I think about it, when I was early to mid 40s. "peri" is the time before menopause and something unfortunately few people talked about before. A book that may help you, that I think Andrea mentioned to you but it bears repeating , is The Pause. it is to me excellent as it goes through every symptom one could possibly have and gives the whys of it all , which to me helps to know why it is happening. It also has suggestions of vitamins, etc. to try.
I too have had the shakes or tremors or jelly legs and just on and off a very "unsettled" feeling. My headaches come near my period usually, and are like a sinus pressure headache.
The anxiety has been the worse. But I find that now that I know what is happening it has calmed me and makes me cope better. This board has also helped immensely with that.
Enjoy your time at the beach. I went away in May to Florida and it really did wonders I think.

Thanks goodness are talking about those "internal jitters". I thought I was going crazy. I notice them mostly at night. I feel like my nerve endings are mis-firing. Awful feeling. I wake up probably 3-4x/night although since I started Estroven, it has been better. I am peri-menopause although my MD said no, he took at estradiol level but never asked me what part of my cycle I was in....doesn't that matter? I am 47 and boy has my body changed in the last 6 months, weight gain too. I am not too friendly to this thing called menopause so far.....

LOL YOu will after time accept it and just go with the flow. When it gets really bad, you'll be on her venting your peri away! Trust me, we all do it. Yes, those internal shakes. So you are finding Estroven to be helping? The internal shakes are the changes in hormones, the losing of estrogen, even though it is not down to rock bottom, as my gyne puts it, unless you've been watching your estrogen count every single month since your period, there is no normal blood reading to determine you are perimenopause or even menopause until you barely producing any at all. The first to go is the Progesterone. And that alone will make you frizz and sizzle! You are definitley perimenopause and anxiety is just one more mouthful to digest.

If progesterone is the first to go, do you think that the progesterone creams I hear about are helpful?? First you hear estrogen, then progesterone, it all gets very confusing.... I know I need the estrogen for my bones but maybe the cream would help even things out. I don't even know for sure if the Estroven helps, but mentally I have told myself that it does, so that is half the battle sometimes. Of course, I was awake half of last night sweating, cold, dreaming, etc..... what a way to grow older.....(not old, of course)

What do you mean be "internal shakes". I have just developed a symptom that feels like fluttering in different parts of my abdomen and sometimes my upper thigh. Is that what you mean by internal shakes or is it something else?

The best way I can describe the internal shakes that I had was: feeling jitterier inside, like a constant nervousness; a sensation running through your body; could easily mistaken it for anxiety but if you focus on it, it isn't anxiety or a panic attack feeling. For me, it was worse a lot of times after having slept for about 2 hours so in the middle of the night, It would wake me up and go into full force. It is scary, couldn't stand it! Very intense! Wouldn't wish it on anyone! Dr. didn't know what the heck I was talking about when I told him about them.
The fluttering you mentioned - could it be more like spasms?

Thanks Molly. What you describe is not what I have. Maybe they are spasms. It just feels like a fluttering or a flash of something. Hard to describe.

No, I think you are talking about something different, have not had that feeling.....yet. This feeling is almost like your whole body feels jumpy, but it is not. I feel it usually at night. Not every night but enough so it is another annoyance to disturb sleep.
