Can semi severe asthma attacks scar the lungs....Ive had I would say probably 5 pretty bad attacks and my asthma bothers me off and on at times ...Reason why I ask is b/c the last X RAY I had done which was months ago showed some scarring in both of my lungs..My pulmonary Dr..said not to worry about it that asthma does scar the lungs...Is this true?

in most cases of asthma, the scarring is temporary & the lungs will heal when you are doing better. that's what separates asthma from other lung diseases- reversible airway obstruction.
in really severe cases though, when asthma is undertreated for a really long time, "airway remodeling" will take place & that ain't a good thing. the airways rebuild themselves from all the scar tissue.
generally though, the scar tissue is reversible in the lungs from asthma.
