My mom was recently referred to a neurosurgeon for carpal tunnel surgery. Do any of you know when a neurosurgeon performs this surgery instead of an orthopaedic surgeon? Thank you in advance for your replies.

As CP involved the nerves, then a Neruoligst is your best bet. lidia09 07-10-2004, 07:26 AM Hi ChristinaRose I had my CTS surgery done successfully by an orthopaedic surgeon. Many of them specialise in hands/limbs. I would imagine that either specialist could be equally trusted to cut the ligament & stretch the 'sleeve' away from the nerve. There's also different degrees of skill amongst all orthopaedic & neurosurgeons. I'd just head for the one with the best reputation. Best wishes. Lidia :) |
