View Full Version : Lines Across Front Teeth

Hi All,

I am 20 years old and my teeth in good shape (no cavities *knock on wood*, no other problems). I went to the dentist a couple days ago for a routine 6 month check-up, and he said all was well. However, I have always had these "lines" (one long one on each tooth) that go from one side to the other. They look pretty shallow, and I can see them when I get close up to the mirror.

My question is: Should I be concerned that my front teeth will break off in the near future? Could they have been caused by me sucking my thumb as a baby/toddler when my teeth were forming? Wouldn't the dentist have said something if he thought there might be a problem?

Any feedback would be helpful, especially is anyone else has these. Thanks!

Sounds like "craze lines", a common "problem" many of us have. They are indeed shallow (involving only the outer enamel) and pose no risk to the associated teeth nor indicate of any problem other than sometimes cosmetic issues.

I'm pretty sure if it was more than that, your dentist would have told you.

Hope this helps
