Still nervous and scared. But reading other success stories has helped some. I may still chicken out and walk out if I dont like the feel of things, butI will at least show up at the hospital. All I can say is thry better treat me with kid gloves, or I'm walking.

So..... did you go through with it? Sure hope so! We anxiously await your first post-surgical report!
Take recovery at your own pace -- and stay as mobile as possible as it helps a LOT. Don't fret over oddball pains, etc., as they are normal. And you may feel like your midsection was hit by a truck for a few days. Rest assured you will feel better each day.
Take care...

Went n at 6:3 AM, with my roomate Steve as my designated driver. Was preped and IV inserted, My pastor came and prayed for me and met my dr. Dr. Kodama) The anisteologist said I'm slipping you a cocktail. -----
I awale about 90 minutes later, Dr. Kodama says it went perfect and was a lap. Thank god it was a lap. He said if all goes well I'll be out in an 2 hours.
Well they wanted me to urinate before leaving. Here the problem occurs, I could not void. They sent me to a room. Hooked up two more bags of fluid, still no luck. Around 3 PM they drained my bladder with a catheter (OUCH). Then about 30 minutes after the drain, it started working again. They said when I could produce 30cc an hour, I could go. By 6 PM resident dr came by examined me and ordered my release. Got home at 7PM. Tried to sleep but due to fluid overload had to void every 30 minutes till 5AM the next day. A horrible night. A bit sore but taking no narcotics, perceset was given but dont need it. I was surprised that no antibiotic was given.

Hey there ~
I am so happy that it is over for you. I had read your last few posts and was hopeful that all would go well for you. My own surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday ~ it was originally scheduled for 6/8 but it was cancelled at the last minute due to an abnormal EKG. My cardiologist ran some tests ~ no cardiac problems at all but corrected an erratic blood pressure problem. I wish I was post-op 1+ months already but glad to have the blood pressure problem cleared up and am now a little more relaxed about next week. Can't wait to be sharing my own recovery story! Hope all continues to go well for you ~~

Hey farscape - glad to hear from you! Sounds like so far, post-op recovery is pretty typical. Sleep when you can; your body needs rest. Take as much time off from work as you can afford too - I only took a week and went back too soon. I was so tired by the end of a 6-8 hour shift, I could barely drive home. Maybe no complications will arise (keep your fingers crossed! :) ), But if anything does come up that's a negative to recovery, post it, and I know someone will be out here to help.
Take care,
Katie G
