 have you tried some cream of wheat with a little bit of milk in it to make it thin and maybe trying blended oatmeal the same way those would be a filling food or just a idea.. you should have someone call a nursing home and ask for some ideas of what they feed the patients that have to have blended food, if u dont wanna do that i can always ask my mom she works in a old folks home but thats the only 2 foods at the top of my head right now sorry ill try to think for ya here and get back to you with any more i can  theresa

So sorry about your broken jaw. That must be painful. I blend all my food due to not many teeth. I don't cook much, but this might help: I use canned food a lot, pour some juice out and then put in blender and puree to liquid. Yams, asparagus, spinach, carrots, peas, can of brown beans are good (separate). If it doen't liquify enough, I add some V-8 juice or milk to it and blend some more. I also bought a juicer and put grapes, apples, strawberries and other fruits in it (mix or separate) and it is delicious. Another thing it is good for is vegetables: this a.m. I put a carrot in juicer with, half a cucumber, a little anise, celery, granny smith apple. It was delicious. I also use pumpkin custard and cheesecake (but you would have to liquify it moreto sip through straw). Hope this helps some. Get well soon. Sae

When I broke my jaw, I lived off of cheese soup, tomato soup with beef broth added, frappachinos and juice (100% stuff). I just could never bring myself to stick my favorite foods in a blender - I was scared it would ruin them for me! I did get some chunky soups and bend them down and that was good and flavorful. Unfortunately, there is not much you can eat! I remember going out one night and sitting at a very fancy resturant with some friends (and my dentist of all people!) and they were all eating lobster and filets. I was DROOLING. I remember wanting to run out of the resturant because it smelled SO good. Fortunately, they had excellent lobster bisque (though I couldn't eat the lobster chunks :( :( :( ) The long and short is, you will never enjoy food as much as you will when you are able to eat again. But I totally feel your pain!

 hi bubba i had spoken to my mom about somethings they feed to the old folks at the home, didnt get very far because she said they take normal food blend it thoroughly and if its too thick they just add a bit of milk or water to make it really thin...yuck im still trying to think of other things you can eat but im a little lost of ideas as to what can go into a straw and taste good thats a tough one, but im still thinking of you..take care and get better soon...theresa

[To keep the forum free of cuss/slang words, a combination of words like "blend it thoroughly" is preferred. Thanks - Well-come Moderator]

hey bud , been there done that about 9 years ago. the physical pain has nothing on not being able to eat. here are a few things i tried. pureed chick fil a chicken soup, add a little chicken broth to thin this out and use a toothpick to push in the parts that dont wanna go in . im sure you are drinking ensure or boost meal replacement drinks. add ice cream and make a shake out of it . jello pudding ,, add extra milk to thin it out . i was wired for six weeks, by the time i got them off i would have eaten raw tuna " now thats bad". oh and one more thing , the straw , run the straw up your cheek up to your jaw, if you are like me and have your wisdom teeth removed you can get more in that way. take it easy when you get them off also , you may wanna eat everything , but your jaw hasnt opened for a while it is quite painful trying to eat then too...... mike

oh and mac and cheese it works ,,, add milk to thin it out , and blend the noodles up prior to putting them in the cheese. keeps some texture to them instead if feeling like soup..

I fractured my mandible in two places playing football a couple of weeks ago. I had the titanium plates and screws, the whole deal. I am also still wired and rubber banded shut. My daily regimen of nutrition includes a 100% whey protein shake in the morning and a glass of orange juice(which I have to mix with my meds, of course). Lunch is usually just a glass or two of V8 juice and some milk(not mixed, don't worry). And dinner is usually the same protein shake but I mix it with milk instead of water. That seems to be working fine for me. I've gotten past the whole inability to eat solids or even verbally communicate. And I definitely can't bring myself to blending my solids up. I think I can get enough of what I need in the liquids. I hope I'm right.
