A common thought is that constipation is one of the causes for hemorrhoids, but in my case it seems that the opposite is true, yet I've never seen this mentioned anywhere, and even my doc said it's unlikely.
What it feels like is happening is that the hemorrhoids are making it difficult for the stool to come out. Has anyone else had the same problems or am I just weird?

If hemorrhoids cause pain or feeling like "need to be carefull" while defecating, man avoids to go to the toilet and constipation can develop. It is more a reaction to pain than a physical obstacle. It is happening, I've heard and read about this already.

Hey,
I think I have the same problem. It feels as though the reason stool isn't passing is b/c the hemm's are too full, or that there isn't enough room for anything to go through. I usually just give up and have to use an enema.
Any suggestions?
I honestly do get enough fiber, drink 8+ glasses of H2O a day, and take mulitvitamins. Other than this I'm so healthy. I don't know what to do and I'm aggravated, frustrated, and scared.
Thanks.

Kris,
OMG!! someone listen to me!! OK, for over 3 yrs I have been addicted to suppositories. bad tummy aches...always feel like I have to go can't. That is where the suppositories come into play. How embarassing ...well, October 2003 my GI specialist told me that I should have my Hemmorhoids removed b/c they could be acting as a flap andnot allowing it to open up to take a BM....ok, I ignored him and wasted time and money $$$ much money on suppositories...I just had my hemmorhoid ectomy july 30th 2004 and I take a BM everyday on my own. I am no longer using or dependent on suppositories. I had no pain ( unusual), and didn't even have to take my pain med's. I go back to the doctor August 18th. It's a miracle!!!!!!!!!! Removing them was the key!
Renee' Hope I was able to help.

I definitely am dependent on using enemas, I use them if not every other day, every 3 days and I'm so worried that I'm doing some permanent damage. I simply can't go on my own anymore--I don't even get the urge. It truly sucks.
I just received in the mail info about Cobra coverage so I'm going to go to a dr about this. I'm too scared not to.
-thanks-
