This is my first time posting on the stress/anxiety board. I just was wondering...I'm nervous a lot of the time, and since I moved to a new area, it's really becoming apparent. I dread it when I have to "say my name/where i'm from," I hate speaking up in class (and most of my new graduate school classes are discussion-based), and I'm basically just nervous and awkward in front of people I don't know very well. It's nothing too horrible or crippling-- I still make and maintain plenty of wonderful friendships, and when I teach ballet (in front of several adults), I still get the job done. I function very well on a one-on-one basis. I'm just really frustrated with my nervousness and self-doubt. I think I'm concerned most about what people think of me and I often begin to question my own capabilities. Does anyone have this problem? Should I need to seek therapy?

Therapy will help you get over this, although nothing will really happen to you, you'll just feel nervous. But yes, therapy would be good and I would suggest CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) which will replace the negative thoughts with positive ones.
