Hello all.....

This is my 2nd symptom...lhermitte's sign:blob_fire....1st one was Optic neuritis 2 yrs ago.

I got another appt with neuro in jul29/04....

Had MRI done when I had ON in 2002...was clear...

Was told that I had to have 3 or more diff symptoms to be clinically DX.

I am looking for info from ppl about this lhermitte's sign and if anyone out there was DX from the 3 diff symptoms??....no Mri or tap
I have researched this systom and found it seem to only be related to MS or trama to spinal cord. I also read it is linked to lessions on the spine.
anything will help.....thanks

thanks for all the replies

Hi ChinaCat. Another Canuck! I'm in Southern BC.

Sorry to hear about your problems, but wishing you health in the future. I really know nothing about lhermitte's sign, so I'm of no use. As far as you being told that you had to have 3 symptoms for a dx, I was told different by my neuro (who is an MS specialist and also by the many MSers that I know) that you had to have 2 episodes (attacks, relapses, whatever you want to call it. In my case, 1st was dizziness, then numbness and then the races began.. LOL) at least 24 hours apart to get a dx (along with MRI or LP confirmation). I'm no expert, but my understanding is that you can't get a dx without MRI or LP confirmation. I very well could be wrong, so if I am, please correct me! Good luck and keep us informed!

Hello,

I have a similiar expreinece. In 2001 I was dx with optic neuritis and have had recurring bouts and had steroid tx 7 times. I expereince many symptoms, tingling, numbness, dizziness, weakness and fatigue. My MRI's are clean as well as my LP however my neurologist put me on avenox which has worked wonders. Even with all these symptoms and releif from tx I do not have a definitive dx of MS which is very frustrating. I had many dr's tell me there is nothing wrong or it was in my head, but I know my body and something is not right. Adovcate for yourself, that is the most important advice I can give to you. Hope this helps
