I am just wondering if anyone has asked for their teeth after they are pulled. Mainly, I have lots of gold crowns. I doubt if they are worth much to me but i read the story recently of how they sold body parts at a medical school.(illegaly) With all the teeth they pull day after day it could add up to a lot of gold weight and i don't want my teeth sold, especially after I have to pay them so much to get them pulled. So I was thinking of asking them to give them to me. Is this a morbid thought?

Hi..No I dont think its crazy....I just had a molar pulled, and I didnt want the tooth, but wanted to see it after it was out, but I didnt say anything to the oral surgeon, cos I thought he might think it was weird! But you have a reason, cos of the gold...

I laughed when I came across your post! :D I ask the dentist the same thing, I wanted all my wisdom teeth. I think its just curiosity. It's kinda neat.. After my first surgery, I even asked the doctor to let me see my tumors, which he did, HA so talk about morbid. I think we're so curious, because its a part of us..or (was ) Take care.

No, I asked for my wisdom teeth, they said there not supposed to do that, because of the bacteria, but she gave my wife one anyways.
I would if I were you, you pay for it one way or another

yea, some dentist will give you your teeth and some won't. It just depends on how they want to follow the regulations that are set for that. We can give children their baby teeth, but other then that they are not suppose to give them to you. They are suppose to be properly dispossed of including the crowns that are on them. You can ask people do all the time, but it will be up to the dentist. Remember if he says no it's because of the regulations that all dentist should be following.

I'll have to see what i do about it. I will prob be so nervous i will forget anyway to ask. I have saved all my kids baby teeth altho i am not sure whose are whose anymore. I even saved the umbilical cord when it fell off...now that, my family thinks is weird. But a friend of mine showed me her baby book when she was about 30 and in a little envelope was a set of little tiny teeth her mom had saved for her. I thought that was so neat so i saved my kids teeth too. They sure don't want anything to do with them now, but maybe when they grow up????
thanks for all your input on this.

When I got my wisdom teeth out, I asked for them. They didn't have any fillings in them or anything, since they were mostly still under the gums, but I'm just the kind of morbid person who thinks that stuff is cool. I went home with a little envelope containing two whole teeth and tons of little fragments. Apparently my bottom ones were so messed up that they had to chop them into tiny pieces to get them out. I'm glad I slept through it! Anyway, I threw out the fragments and still have the whole teeth somewhere. Most dentists will be glad to accomodate you. Just don't mention that you want them because you're afraid he's going to sell them on the black market... he might take offense! Good luck with the extraction.

Okay, I'll try to be tactful but that might be hard for me! I am not sure these giant teeth will be as cute as the baby teeth i have saved but we'll see. I hope your extractions did not cause you too much pain when you had them. It sounds awful. Thank goodness for the miracles of modern painkillers.
