usually the doctor has to treat it by removing it. i only know of two ways and those are removing them by some sort of medical acid that is put on the wart and dissolves it (i hear this is painful), and then by laser. i will be having mine removed by laser next month...they put you under light anastesia so that you don't move because they need to be extremely percise, and then they take 'em off with the laser. it's a minor surgery that lasts about 15-20 minutes.

i'm sure there are other ways of removal, but you will have to ask your doctor.
