Hello, has anyone been diagnosed with dysplasia yet had a negative HPV test? This happened to me (mine was moderate dys.) and from what I've read, I thought dysplasia is almost always caused by the HPV virus. So I was wondering how common it actually is to have dysplasia yet be HPV negative?

It is very common to have dysplasia without having HPV. I had, still have, severe dysplasia and my HPV test came back negative. They say that 97% of all cervical abnormalities are caused by HPV, ALTHOUGH, that is being disputed. Other causes could be vitamin deficiencies, smoking, genes, etc. I'm all 3. Don't worry about it though - it happens more often than one would think. Doctor's actually refer to this disease as the "common cold" of STD's.
