Hello everyone! I had chemotherapy due to cancer and now my hair grew back VERY thick and curly. I've had it cut 3 times, to try to tame it. What's the best way to straighten it? I used to have straight soft hair, now its just plain unruly! I'm thinking about going back to my wigs !! ahhaahha not really. But its a mess. Or does anyone here know if it will eventually straighten out? Any suggestions GREATLY appreciated. Take Care.

sounds to me like you are one of the lucky ones to have your hair grow back with a vengence. anyway, i am assuming you are white? maybe you can try a relaxer, meant for black people's hair. you can buy a kit in the box from any pharmacy, and follow the instructions. But don't leave it on too long, or you will over process your hair. if you are white, then cut the time you leave it on for. just sort of comb it through, and then wash and rinse out. the box should have details on what to do.

My best friend had chemo several years ago. When her hair first started growing back it was extremely curly. As it got longer it got straighter. Today her hair is beautiful, down to her shoulders and is straight. Also, her hair seems to be a lot thicker. Just give it some time. Best of luck to you in your recovery!

Thank you to both of you that replied. I'll have to try the relaxer, I hadn't thought of that one. My hair IS ALOT thicker about 3X thicker...I'm trying to let it grow. I just need patience, I guess.. Thanks again..
Take Care
