I have four, too. I believe that's the norm. I'm still a little sore around the sites when I wake up. However, I have been eating some of the things that I have been deprived of for six months. After a 40 lb weight lost, this is not a good thing, but having a choice of pain or deprivation, I chose deprivation. Now I feel like a baby in a candy store no pun intended.

It's too early for me to eat fat again. I still have another 40 lbs to loose, so I may not ever go back to the old ways. But I might try the ocassional treat.

I just had my gallbladder removed 9 days ago. Prior to surgery I was told I would have 2-3 incisions on my right side by my ribs and one in my belly button.
Well I was pretty shocked when I came to because I had 2 on my right side and one in my belly...however about an inch long incision right below my chest. I was never told that it may be a possibility, and I never saw my doctor after my surgery either. The nurses just told me everything went well.
I'll find out August 5th.
Where exactly are your incisions?

My surgery was 8 weeks ago. I've got four incisions -- two on the right side, one near belly button and one in upper abdomen. Healing very nicely now --and hard "knots" below them are disappearing. They're called "healing ridge(s)" -- don't worry if you feel hardness below the surface of the incisions. It's all normal........................

My 4 are at the same place as glorydots. The y all have hard ridges underneath. I guess they are healing normally. I see the surgeon for the follow up on wednesday.

I think 4 is normal, thats how many I had. I also had a stab wound because I required a JP drain for 24 hrs. It was no big deal and closed on its own. Sara

Hi. It's interesting to read the replies, since I woke up having more incisions than I thought I would. I was told pre-op that it would be 3-4, including one that would go "through" the belly button. But, I woke up with one quite large one right in the lower middle of my breasts (I guess in the space between the sternum and the upper ribs?). On top of that incision and below it as well are puncture marks.

I also have two on my right side, probably about an inch or two apart, both small, but each one with another puncture mark. Then, instead of going "into" or "through" my belly button, there's an incision about an inch long above it and another one just as long below it? So basically I ended up with FIVE incisions (3 of which are about an inch long each), and two smaller incisions, PLUS 4 puncture marks. Not sure what that's all about, but I see the doctor in two weeks and will definitely be asking him. There may have been some kind of "minor complication" that I haven't yet been told about, since the surgery took twice as long as my family was told it would (2 hours instead of the 45 minutes to an hour that I was told and the family was told).

In any case, it sure beats having to go through the traditional procedure, with a long recovery and a 6-8 inch scar, so I'm not complaining. I'll add that as sick as I felt just 3 days ago, with zero energy and lots of pain, I'm amazed at how much better I feel in just this short period of time!! Hope everyone else that had it done recently is coming along as quickly as I feel I am!
