 as many already know i had all my wisdom teeth and a moular removed monday. i have a question as i look into the baack of my mouth i see large holes they almost look like tunnels going into the back of my mouth is this normal for the holes to be so large that if i wanted to i can stick the tip of my pinky in there?? i read some horrible stories about people getting bad infections in these holes  and havin many surgerys to correct these problems ..wow just when i thought i was out of the woods..the os didnt give me any antibotics to take after the surgery, was i supose to get some all i had was a 2000 mg of antibotics a hr before the surgery because of my mvp and that was it..my wisdom teeth were not impacted so why are the holes so big?? now im gonna be a little worrie bug till i heal all the way. also how can i keep the amount of bacteria down in my mouth to prevent infection besides the warm salt water and a soft brushing?? i use the salt water about 3 or 4 times a day and i use sea salt instead of regular table salt cuzz i was told i would heal a bit faster..any information u know to me is always a help ty

Yes, it is normal to have large holes after extractions, especially since the teeth were erupted. Just think about the size of the teeth..the holes in your jaw is the same size as the tooth that was pulled. These will fill in slowly over the next few months. As far as antibiotics, you were covered for your MVP, so unless you had an abscess, no further coverage is usually indicated. Just follow instructions and call your dentist if you have any problems.
