Im sure this is too late. I was taught in an academy to breathe for 4. Breathe in (inhale for 4 seconds) then exhale for 4 seconds and relax your muscles while you do it. I restores your blood pressure, and breathing and helps with panic.

dear Ashley, if your having trouble with your breathing during a panic attack take note of HOW you are breathing. Most people breath fast short breaths from the top of the lung /chest area. You need to slow your breathing ,like mentioned in the post above but also try to make your breath come from your lower part of the lung like the abdomin or tummy area. Try or practice this before a panic attack to see if you can see the difference it is a bigger better breath when from the tummy /lower lung area. Breathing can make or break a panic attack.Take control of the breath and all else will fall into place. As easy as this is said I found a big improvement in my panic attacks after learning some yoga breathing whether from a class of video tape. Hope this helps as it did for me over time.takecare love debbiepxx

ps....ashea, also try to keep your mind occupied with something you like ,a movie, a book , etc as soon as you start feeling anxious try to change what your doing and think of something oppisite to what your thinking. If your thinking bad thoughts about something change it to the complete oppisite of that bad thought...again easy said than done but try. Anxiety can be a mind game and ,again, take control and you will win....goodluck,debbiepxx
