My daughter is almost 5 and has always been healthy except for having asthma. About a month ago, we noticed that she wants to sit really close to the tv. My DH pointed out to me that he has noticed her left eye crossing. I never saw it so I didn't think much of it.

For the past week or so, I have noticed that her eye crosses everytime she has to focus on something. Her eyes also look very dull, like she closes her eyelids some... I hope that makes sense.

Anyway, I am wondering what could be happening. She has never had problems with her eyes before. Any ideas? TIA

 I would definetely make her an appointment at the optometrist as soon as possible. The sooner you find out what might be happening to her, the sooner you can take steps to correct it. Let me know what happens!

Sounds like she may need eye correction,,,glasses. I would have her checked right away. Maybe she has a "lazy eye". Many children develop this condition which causes one eye to cross.

My brother in law has similar symptoms. He went to the doc and found out he needed glasses. Also before he reads anything he has to do eye exercises to warm up his eye. His doc said the muscles in his eye are weak and eventually he might need surgery.

It is not uncommon to find a lazy eye in kids when they are a little older we didn't find out with our son until he was 6 and now he wears glasses to correct it. My daughter had it to and just developed suddenly when she was 2. See an opthalmologist though they are specialized in eye problems and most likely an optomotrist will refer you to one.
