I have never really had any vision problems in the past...until yesterday. I was out in the sun all day with my daughter and when I came inside I noticed that my vision in my left eye was a little cloudy. Today, it is still that way and when I was driving tonight I was seeing halos around every light with rainbows in them. I know that probably sounds a little strange...but it was like there was a full rainbow around every street light. When I closed my left eye...the halos went away.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this. I assumed it was from being out in the sun too long. Should I see a Dr.?

I'll also add that I have had floaters most of my life. I started noticing them in my early teens(I'm now 25). I've gotten used to them and usually only notice them when I'm in bright light. There have always been a lot of them, though.

Could be floaters, also sounds like the symptoms of a cataract. I heard that those are cataract symptoms, however with me and my dad, it was nothing, just floaters - People discount floaters because they just think they appear as threads and dots - not so! Have it checked out, don't let it go, because if it IS a new floater it means it tore off the retina and you want to make sure the retina didn't tear.

I, too, had a minor eye problem today that was similar to yours. I had cloudy vision in my right eye and saw halos around the lights. I am only 25 and have good blood pressure. It only lasted for an hour and then went away, and hasn't returned since. It still bothers me though. Can a floater do that, or maybe even stress. Or is it possible for it to be an early sign of cataracts? Its just weird because it just went away on its own? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I don't want to alarm you, but I advise you to get to a Dr. and ask to see an eye specialist. The symptoms you are describing seem similar to Iritis or Uveitis (inflammation of the eye). I have had the disease for 12 years (I'm also 25). Don't worry! It can be easily taken care of in the majority of cases with eye drops! I am concerned though that you see someone soon, and not just a family doctor. Please ask to see an opthamologist. A family doctor might give you antibiotics. In my experience, GP's are not very aware of this condition. The symptoms of seeing halos and cloudy vision in your left eye are indicative, but what drew me to this post was the fact that you have floaters and have had them before--this might mean that you have had inflammation before. Floaters are often a result of damage from previous inflammation. Just so you know, other symptoms can include a dull headache over the eye, excessive watering of the eye, sensitivity to light, and redness of the white part of the eye, plus others.

I don't want you to worry about it, but like I said the symptoms you describe might indicate this condition, of course, it could be something else, which is why you should see an eye doctor. I have a very serious form of the disease, but it is mostly minor; however, this condition can progress if the inflammation is not halted.

I strongly urge you to see your eye doctor. I had experienced this several years ago and would just shake it off. Then one morning while waiting for the school bus to pick up my kids, I rubbed the sleep out of my left eye and I couldn't even see the bus, nor could I see the house across the street. I decided my eye sight had gotten a little worse and I needed new glasses. Boy was I wrong, I went to the doctor, even picked out new frames before I went back. I didn't need new glasses -- I had a cataract on my right eye and was told that it was so bad that I needed to have the surgery within the month as not to lose my sight in that eye.
Funny little note was my mother went with me for the surgery. Here were all these elderly people who thought I was so sweet to come with my mother until she explained it was me having it not her. At the time, I was only 32.

have you figured out what the problem was with the halos?
