The best way to get all the ins and outs of Atkins is to read one of the books. It gives all the recommended supplement, etc., and explains the rationale behind the program. And it is not one menu plan, but changes over the weeks, so personally I think it is always best to get it from the horses mouth, especially with this plan.

I don't do Atkins myself but participate on a board with many Atkins users, and the ones who succeed pretty much follow it to the letter.

I tried Atkins and could not stick to it. If you really want to know how it works, you must read the bookl to understand the concepts of it. I am also concerned about possible health consequences associated with it. Have heard a lot of horror stories (BUT they are stories...). I just started Weight Watchers and I love it. I have never been on such an easy diet in my life.

You definitely need to read the book to follow the plan, there's no way around it. I've been using carb control for 3 years now with great success and I cannot say enough good things about it; we North Americans as a whole eat way too much sugar and refined carbs, the book will open your eyes if nothing else. You can probably pick up a copy of the book cheap online - most libraries have copies as well.

Best of luck,
Nat
