View Full Version : Candida die-off symptoms or allergic reaction?

Hi everyone,:)
I posted a very similar thread in General Health not too long ago, inquiring if headache & nausea, etc. were common Candida die-off symptoms and was looking for peoples' experiences, but now I have a more serious question. Is THROAT SWELLING a common/can throat swelling be a Candida die-off symptom? I have read that Candida die-off can closely mimic an allergic reaction, and almost everytime I have an allergic reaction I experience the throat swelling. I am absolutely miserable. For the past week or a little more, I've been nauseous on and off, spacey, dizzy, extremely tired, have chest tightness and pressure, throat swelling on and off, major adrenalin-rush feelings along with heart palpitations and then temporary symptom relief, anxiety, odd thoughts, and some depression. Even always sick, I don't feel this bad. This all started when I completely eliminated sugar and all carbs except for rice out of my diet a little over a week ago. Before that, I was already doing pretty much the Candida diet, eating only meat, no fermented stuff, gluten, molds, dairy, etc. Would just eliminating my sugar cause this much of a die-off and these terrible symptoms or have I been eating something I'm allergic to again? Any opinions would be HIGHLY valued and appreciated!
Thanks,
Katalina - Scared because I can barely breathe.

I think cutting your sugar etc will cause a lot of those symptoms. You might try posting on a low carb group. I have been treated for candida overgrowth thru a health practioner and did not change my diet. I don't have any "severe" allergies though.

I would contact your doctor to see what he/she thinks

Tracey,
Thanks for your reply. You said you were treated for Candida overgrowth through a health practitioner. Was this a homeopath? A nutritionist? I am looking into going that route. I already eat a pretty low carb diet, and I tried to cut out ALL carbs, including an apple daily and even starchy vegetables, and became REALLY sick. I actually just messed up that diet today. I did it, of course, to "starve" that candida yeast and not lose weight because I'm underweight, but my blood sugar levels were NOT stabilizing. You controlled/cured your yeast overgrowth without changing your diet? That's really interesting because I was under the impression that it is impossible to do unless you only live on meats and steamed vegetables. How did your health practitioner treat you?
Interested,
Katalina
