I was diagnosed as a diabetic back in September 2003, my liver levels were elvetaed than as well. I went to the ER last saturday July 17, due to pain on my right side, bloating, feeling tired etc.
They said it was probably just scar tissue from past surgeries. They gave me medicine for the pain.
My doctor called me on Monday and said he wanted to discuss my blood results. So I went in and he wants me to see a GI doctor.
First what is a GI doctor what will they do what are they looking for concerning my liver.
Do I need my liver? Can't they just take it out.
I really want an ultrasound done because I want to make sure it isn't a cyst.
I'm in alot of pain, very very tired and still bloated.
What do I need to know in advace to going to the GI doctor what do I need to ask specificly to the doctor.
I'm a little confused about the liver function thing.
I'm looking for any info on this situation.
Blessings Jenny

You cannot survive without your Liver. The wondeful thing about the Liver is it can repair it's own damage over time. But no, you cannot just have them remove it. It is one of the most important Organs in the body and you would die without it.

A GI doctor is a gastro doctor. Deals with pancreas, stomach, liver, intestines. I suffer from the same symptoms and more. I have been diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis. It's where the immune system attacks the liver. My liver levels were very high at the beginning. A number of disorders can affect liver levels. Alcohol and certain foods & medications can as well. Liver pain can be caused by the liver being enlarged. can become very painful. Mine is. Good luck to you.
