View Full Version : BB-like lump on index finger knuckle

I've suddenly developed a lump on the top left side of the knuckle of my left index finger. The shape, size and hardness are like a bb under the skin of my knuckle, but it seems to be attached to the knuckle, not free moving. There's some mild soreness to the touch or when I bend the knuckle, but not otherwise. Because I'm solidly right-handed, this finger doesn't get a lot of use, and I don't recall any events that might have induced an injury. It just appeared spontaneously (or at least I just discovered it without being able to relate it to anything). I know this complaint is nothing compared to some of the concerns I see reported here, but I'm curious if this rings a bell with anyone. Thanks for any info you might offer.

I have bumps or spurs on my index finger and little finger caused by arthritis. The hand surgeon told me the only thing to do (for me) is to remove the bumps surgically and then fuse the two tip joints with a tiny screw. Thought I could just have the bumps removed, however, it would only be for cosmetic purposes, because the joints are worn out and pain would continue. I have tried to post a message hoping to find others that have had joint fusions but can not find where to post. I'm new to this board and have registered, etc but find no posting area. Hope this is helpful.
