My fiance is scheduled to have this done on the 13th of August. I was looking to find out more information on it, pros and cons, effects. His eyesight is not that bad, he is just tired of wearing contacts and glasses. He heard someone mention it and decided to have it done, for reasons I do not know, he is too spontaneous with decisions and I'm not sure he even researched it.

Keep looking around, there are whole websites devoted to the "cons" and people whose lives have been devastated by this procedure. The reality of the situation is most people do fine, but there is a whole group who does not. If you find yourself in the group who winds up with painfully dry eyes, bad vision, etc, you're out of luck. Your fiance might even argue that those people didn't go to top doctors, but that isn't usually the case. Also there is no telling what is going to happen to these eyes 20 or 30 years down the road. Basically, it's a gamble. Personally I wouldn't gamble with my eyesight, but we all make our own decisions. At least if you collect enough information on both sides of the issue your fiance can make a more informed decision. Best wishes :)
