HI ALL,

I WAS ON ADVAIR FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR AND WHEN I WENT TO THE EYE DOCTOR FOR A CHECKUP I HAD THE GLAUCOMA TEST AND MY EYES WERE OFF THE CHARTS PRESSURE WISE, ONE WAS 33 THE OTHER 30, IT SHOULD BE BETWEEN16 AND 19.

ANYWAY, I TOLD HIM I WAS ON ADVAIR AND HE ASKED IF IT WAS POSSIBLE TO STOP IT FOR A MONTH, I DID AND WHENI WENT BACK MY PRESSURE WENT DOWN IN MY EYES. THE ADVAIR DID HELP, BUT I COULD NOT RISK THAT CHANCE OF LOSING MY EYE SIGHT. NOW I'VE BEEN USING MY ALBUTERAL AT LEAST 4 TIMES A DAY, I KNOW THAT'S NOT A GOOD SIGN.

SO I DECIDED TO TRY THE SERVENT DISCUS ALONE WITHOUT THE STERIOD.
I JUST TOOK MY FIRST DOSE TODAY, ANYONE ELSE USE SERVENT? ANY GOOD RESULTS???

PLEASE LET ME KNOW
THANKS

Jeanie,
It's been a while since you posted so you may not be on the boards anymore. I am having the same problem right now--high eye pressure--so my allergist took me off the Advair. I am worried, because I only have the Albuterol to take.

How are you doing now? Did you go back on another inhaler?

I have read an article that says this happens in people with a family history of pressure or glaucoma problems. Is that right in your case?

Oh man,,,I didn't know about this. Glaucoma runs in my family,,,better make a note of that when I go to the eye doctor this fall.
Glad for the heads-up.
Can't help with the question though,,,I'm on Advair and love it. Hopefully things will be ok in the fall.

my experience with serevent was terrible, but last i took it about eleven years ago, so it might of changed since then. but after taking serevent, my peak flow would go down very badly (i believe to a 90, which is not good at all). and i ended up having to take my breathing machine to rescue me.

now im taking advair and have no problems at all, not with eye sight or anything. i guess everything affects people in different ways.

hi all, sorry it's been a long time since i posted, but the asthma has been virtually non existent since i started using serevent, it is the best for me right now, i only take one inhalation in the morning, dont even need the night dose and i'm fine

my eye pressure went down after being off the advair for a month, i have to go every six months though to keep a check on it, but i definitely feel that anyone on it should have their eyes checked, i didn;t even know the pressure was that high, i knew i needed reading glasses and had a routine chekcup in the general vision store thats' when i luckily found out

there are so many bad side affects to advair, there is even a website with all the adverse side affects and a whole bunch of people's posts about their horrible experiences with it.

But if it works for some, then great, but keep a checkup on eyes, and go to the doc regularly for checkups, steroids are scary, inhaled or ingested.

hope all is well with all of you
God Bless.
jeanie
