I started taking Meridia approximately 2 weeks ago. Before then I was a compulsive over-eater, and now I find that I am "forcing" myself to eat because I am just not hungry - what a great feeling after a few years of constant hunger! lol .. I have a healthy, balanced, diet (more of a lifestyle than a diet) and I'm receiving sufficient calories for my body size/type. I work out 3-5 times a week at the gym.

Before I started Meridia, I was 223. Today I am at 214.. I'm not exactly being ungrateful and complaining here (lol) but I was just thinking that 9lbs in 2 weeks seems like an awful lot for a healthy weight loss.. was it mostly water weight? I don't expect to continue seeing this type of loss, I just worry that if/when I go off the Meridia, or if I have a day where I feel I need to "splurge" the weight will pile back on overnight. I'm also 1-2 days before my period, so I expected to weigh a LOT more, as I ususally retain water like a giant sponge. What are your thoughts & experiences?

Anytime you start a weight loss plan, you will lose water. 9 pounds in two weeks is a lot, but not so much that you should worry. If you keep up what you are doing, your weight loss will stabalize. Take advantage of the fact that you are less hungry to get into a habbit of eating healthy. Once you get off the medication, hopefully the good eating will be a habbit and you will not regain it. It is also important to start exercising. Keep the weight off is much easier if your exercise.

P.S. How did you find a doctor to give you the Rx for Meridia?
