I went to an orth surgeon last week, who has ordered an MRI and another appt in 3 weeks. He told me that he thinks the vertebrae in my lower back has moved farther out, and that I have cervical disk problems as well. Due to the existance of both (and type 2 diabetes), he does not think that cortizone is an option, which leaves only surgery. Fine with me - just fix the pain! Do any of you have both, and do they do both surgeries at one time? Please share your experiences. Thanks!

Ga Mom:
I have only had one surgery laminectomy/microdisectomy. Cortisone never helped me. I had 3 of those injections. My NS said that too many of those injections can cause more damage than anything besides that will only camouflage the problem. There was a thread of post for Cervical problems. I encourage you to read that one. Perhaps you find more answers to your questions. Since I have a problem on my lumbar area L5-S1, I usually go to this tread: L5-S1 Hemilaminectomy with microdisectomy 2.
Hope it helps,
