Since last weekend I have developed a numbness in my leg, mostly around my knee. I *think* it might be a lower back issue like sciatia, but my sister was diagnosed with MS a couple of years ago and I am wondering if I am heading down the same path. I have also been experiencing a itchy stomach on the same side as the numb leg. I had a bad case of vertigo a few years back as well, but it was only once and my doc thought it was stress related. Before I go to the Dr., I thought I would ask you folks what you thought. Am I overracting? I did move around an extension ladder last weekend (when this started) and did some painting and work on our house. It is possible I tweaked my back, the lower back is a little sore, but thats usually the norm for me. Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

Hi Tony and welcome. Your symptoms could be MS related, but I think you would be jumping the gun to pursue that right now. There could be very simple explanations for each of the three symptoms you mentioned. I would definitely wait to see if your knee gets better over the next few days or weeks. Like you said, it might be your back. Do you ever go to the chiropractor? Or a massage therapist? Perhaps you would get some relief that way if you tweaked your back.
Really, I wouldn't worry about MS at this time. I would make a note of these things in a journal or appt. book just in case you have other symptoms appear. Then you could give your doctor an accurate history of symptoms.
Best wishes!

I agree with Julie..it could be lots of things. And I also think it is important to write these kind of things down in a journal or calendar or something that records what was going on when......and the circumstances. It is so very helpful to the health care workers when they try to sort out what is going on.
If things don't clear up in a few days make an appointment to see someone...if for no other reason than to calm your fears. That is just as important as anything.
Good thoughts to you!
