View Full Version : The process of recovering sight

Hello, my father had a very serious abdominal aneurysm last Spring. Fortunately, he survived but he has been blind ever since.

At first the doctors didn't know what to make of his blindness, but eventually we found the right specialist who was familiar with Post-Operative Blindness and my father was diagnosed with ischemic optic neuropathy, which is a condition that can be caused by lack of blood to the optic nerve during tramuatic surgery.

About 6 months ago my father began to see flashes of his vision again. At first only 1-2 a day, and only for a split second. However, for the next 3 months, this continued until he was seeing many flashes a day, and sometimes even for a second or too. However, the last 2 months, it seems his progress has stalled.

I was wondering if anyone has any information on these flashes of vision that my father is having. I cannot find any information on them in the internet. Has anyone else had the process of regaining their vision from blindness or partial blindness?

Thanks for listening,
Alexis
