I've tried Zocor and Zetia tabs and my lower back starts hurting from them. Any one else have this problem and did you find something else that doesn't make your back hurt?

Zetia also caused backache for me. Never tried zorcor, but i took lipitor a awhile and it was horrible.

My brother started having problems on Zocor. Was switched to Crestor and he got even worse. He complained of lower back and leg pain.

Kidneys are located in lower back and statin drugs cause muscle damage that can in turn damage/stress kidneys. Could this back pain that seems to be a common complaint be related to kidney damage or distress? I had the same symptoms!

I don't know if it was my kidneys. It quit hurting when I stopped taking the cholesterol pills. I guess I'm either going to go from cholesterol or kidney problem. Now I'm starting to have a problem with my lower back again but it's problably from my blood pressure pill which is a statin. I'm going to try another one that's a diuretic

You mean they prescribe statins for blood pressure too?

Maybe it was something I was reading on the cholesterol board and I got mixed up between this board and the high blood pressure board. Anyway I did take the Zocor for over a year. I thought my back problem had to do with menopause. It wasn't until I was prescribed a higher dose that I really started having problems. I'm going to try this other blood pressure pill to see if it's causing me problems with my back.

Iam also having slight bachache from my bp med. i think it is the zestoric(lisinopril/hctz). The dosage is 20/25,g and i split the pill in half., and take a 25mg of hctz also. Clover, what bp med are you taking?

I'm taking Norvasc but I doubt if that's causing me problems because I've been taking it since 97 without any problems. It's probably just age or another prescription I was trying to get off.
