I am so freaking out. I have been having this strange floater in my eye since May and had it checked, doc said it was a floater, ignore it. About 3 weeks ago I got a blob-like spot on the bottom corner of my vision (not visible by looking, its in my eye). It doesn't flaot, it just sits there and blocks my vision. Anyway, I got the visual field test and he said this spot definitely showed up and he wants me to go for an MRI w/ an w/o contrast. I am so scared. What do you think it could be? I have such bad anxiety already and this has put me over the edge. Also, I had an MRI w/o contrst back in January because I was having bad headaches. THe MRI came back clear and my headaches have since subsided.

THanks for any input. By the way, I am 30 years old and had a baby in November of 2003. I also have borderline hypothyroid, but the doc said it has nothing to do with this.

I have the same thing and was diagnosed with Posterior Vitreous Detachment! Did he SEE this blob with a dialted eye exam? My doctor saw it and MY visual field test came back with a blind spot too, he said it is all consistant with the PVD. Mine is in the right eye and covers half the vision - almost into my central vision, but thank goodness it never went that far! Mine started in April, got worse for 3 weeks, then leveled off. Seems to me you may hve the same thing. The blob is most likely just a very large floater (can you see through it? I can inside, but outside in the sun it is black)

WOW. Yes, outside it is black and I cannot see through it. When I am inside, it is like looking through a shower door (very foggy, not black). He did not see it through the visual exam, he did say my vitreous was very liquified, but the field test showed the spot.

I am so scared of a tumor or some other horrible thing that is there. I need a Xanex NOW!

That's not a symptom of an eye tumor - and a brain tumor? it would be visible in BOTH eyes. Yours sounds exactly how mine is! Are youi getting any light flashes or what I get, large rolling balls of light in your eye?
OK, next question :) Does that blob shimmer and vibrate in flourescent lighting? When you close your eyes at night, is there a flickering light in that area? If you answer yes to these questions it is absolutely a PVD. (hey, when I first got mine I had to use Xanax too!!)
