Hello All!
I'm 25 and I have had Uveitis for 12 years. It started out as a relatively minor condition with a few episodes as a teenager, but has progressed much more rapidly in my 20's. I'm currently on methotrexate and cyclosporine. I have also done the steriod thing. I have secondary glaucoma as a result of steriod treatment.
I am wondering if anyone has this condition and would like to swap stories/support one another, especially someone who has/is undergoing systemic treatment.
Please reply or email if you are interested.
Thanks so much!
P.S. For those of you who don't have this condition, please do not take it out of context. Each case is unique. For example, I wouldn't want to cause someone to stop taking steriods because they read here that another person has glaucoma due to them. Thank-you.

I would love to get in conatct with you regarding this - I have uveitis and have had for 12 years, I'm now 37. I haven't taken steroids for 2 years and have been having vhinese acupuncture which has kept it at bay although recently I have had a flare up. I would be interested to know what methotrexate and cyclosporine are and which country you are in as it seems different countries have differnt methods of dealing with this.
I have no explanation as to why I have this and this seems to be common, maybe we could compare stories.
Best wishes
Louise

I am a 50 year old woman who has had uveitis for 7 years. I've tried chinese herbs and had several years of minimal problems. The herb company has now changed ownership and the herbs are not the same quality. I am having my first flare up in years. I would be interested in learning about the acupuncture and any other alternative treatments. I have also heard about visual imagery, basically involves meditation and visualizing your body healing.
Please contact me.
Whar are some symptoms of uveitis? I have light sensitivity and pain. Are those your symptoms?

Hi Kibby - That's interesting that you have found chinese herbs useful. What is that you have been taking? I haven't taken any chinese herbs but I do take turmeric if I have a flare up as it is anti-inflammatory. I also take eye-care multivitamins which include lutin and bilberry etc
The acupuncture which I have every other month is stems and branches acupuncture which is more in depth than your standard but I'm not sure if there are that many people that practice it - It has certainly helped me. I'm due to go again next week and so it'll good to get an update as this is a major flare up.
I have also had some Bowan or Bowen (?) therpy this week and I feel it has certainly helped my stress levels - from my experience stress is a big factor in my flare ups.
I would be more interested to here about the visual imagery - there is also colour therapy when you picture certain colours for certain conditions.
Hope this helps
Louise

I beleive that light sensitivity can be a symptom although personally I don't tend to suffer from it. I don't tend to get any pain either, just patches of light initially which flash until the scarring inside the eye calms down which then leaves a blind spot.
I hope this helps.
