Is there anyone who conceived by means of Clomid? Did you have any side effects when getting that drug? What about the babies who were born after using Clomid? Are they healthy?

I'm reading all this info about Clomid and think my doctor might prescribe it for me but i'd like to conceive by myself before starting any fertility treatment. I hope.

Clomid can interfere with the ability of the cervical mucus glands to be stimulated by estrogen to produce fertile mucus. Only "hostile" or dry cervical mucus may develop in the days preceding ovulation. Robitussin may help to improve the cervical mucus.

The most common side effects are hot flashes due to the body's hormone levels and a mild headache. The headache usually disappears once the last pill is taken, and the hot flashes once ovulation has occurred. Visual symptoms such as spots, flashes or blurry vision are less common and indicate that treatment should stop.

Clomid is a low-level fertility drug. The chances of a multiple birth (twins) increase only by 10% while taking Clomid.

I've heard Clomid can cause ovarian cysts
You can get an ovarian cyst while using Clomid. An ovarian cyst will dissipate on its own, though. It is, however, necessary for your ovaries to be checked for cysts before any additional dosages of Clomid are administered. Clomid could cause an enlargement in an ovarian cyst.

The % of congenital birth defects in children conceived with the assistance of Clomid is no different than the % of congenital malformations in the general population.

I took clomid. My most serious side effect was I was VERY moody. DH and I are ttc again, and we have decided to skip the clomid and go right to the injectibles (which is what worked last time anyway). Different people handle it differently. I did get cysts one month, and so I had to take birth control pills for 10 days until they went away. That upset me b/c it seemed counterintuitive to take bcp for pregnancy! But, no biggie, they went away, and we tried again. Good luck.

i took clomid 3 times.all children are very healthy. my first was 9lbs 12oz, the second was 9lbs 9oz, and my last was 8lbs 3oz(had to have him taken out 2 weeks early to have him that small). if you think you might have a problem with the mucas being to thick, try robitussun cough syrup. took me 1 month to get preg with my son using the syrup. took a couple months with my girls without it. the only illness my kids have had is the occasional ear infection, but not until they started school.hope this helps.

I took 2 rounds of Clomid and got pregnant on the second round. The only side effect I had was bloating, and very very mild cramping, but only the first time I took it. The 2nd month was much better.

Everyone responds differently. Sometimes reading about it online is too much. I went in thinking I'd react horribly based on some of the things I read and it was fine.

So stay positive and good luck! :)

Hi,

I took one round of Clomid (50 mg) because my cycles were so irregular that my doctor felt I wasn't ovulating and I was rarely able to pick up a positive on the ovulation sticks. I ovulated right on day 14 with Clomid and got a postive HPT a couple of weeks later. I'm 12 weeks pg this week and everything is going fine. Had an ultrasound at 7 weeks to make sure there weren't multiples but there was only one baby so that was good! I really didn't have any side effects, might depend on the dose you are on as well.

Good luck!!

One question. Aren't you concerned about the sickness the fertility drugs can cause later in life? Breast cancer, ovarian cancer?

Honeybeems - you said you took Clomid 3 times, have 3 kids and they go to school, it means you did that many years ago. Since then have you ever had any problems with your health? How is your health in general? And I'm sure you get examined annualy and is there anything which can be resulted from taking fertility drugs?

I think I have to start taking Clomid, but my RE wants to give me injectables first since they are more effective.
I think I won't be able to see my RE during my next cycle, because I have to have bloodwork on my cd3 and it falls on Labor Day when everywhere is closed. My RE is waiting for m y bloodwork and cervical cultures, my dh's semen analysis results. He said he wanted to see me when I'm done with all these tests. So without that there is no reason to go to him. It means I can have my bloodwork done in a month during my next cycle.
We're gonna ttc again this cycle naturally then, we hope we'll conceive naturally. I'm using natural progesterone cream after ovulation, it lengthened my luteal phase, it's 11 days now, almost 12, it used to be less than 10 or just 10. I hope next time it'll increase my LP more. My dh is taking his multivitamins with Zinc and Selenium and L-Carnitine by RE's recommendation.
He has had Ginseng tea for last 2 weeks. So before seeing RE again, we'll try ttc naturally. And if it doesn't work we''ll go to re as soon as the results of our tests are done.

May God be with us and you guys

I took Clomid to have my last child. I was on 50 mg dosages for the first 3 months and it was upped to 100 mg doses for my 4th, which is when I got pregnant. I had a very healthy pregnancy and a very healthy baby. My son is now 5 years old and he is as healthy as they come. He has never been on ANY antibiotic medication!!! I didn't have any problems whatsoever for the 4 months that I took Clomid and I never experienced any after effects from it either. I would do it again if I decided to have another child.
