I have had dry eye for a few months. I am getting lower plugs in next week. Can anyone who has had them run through the procedure for me? I'm not too concerned if it hurts upon insertion, but were they uncomfortable long term? Any pros or cons you could share would be appreciated. My Dr was very brief today when we scheduled the insertion appt. I don't know about the different kinds (materials etc) Thank you so much.

It is a very quick, painless procedure. The doctor numbs your eyes and picks up a tiny plug with a tweezer and sticks it in your tear duct. That's it. Some people find them uncomfortable, some don't. There are different kinds to try. Your doctor should be able to explain the different kinds to you.
