My cousin went in for an eye exam today because she said she was seeing "shadows" in one of her eyes. Her doctor said it was a condition usually seen in older people.

Does anyone know what it could possibly be? Or if it's threatening?

It sounds like a floater. They are very common. They are not threatening at all just a nuisance. It was good she was checked out by an eye doctor. Sometimes the same symptom can be something serious.
