Can anybody tell me when endometrial biopsy is done? i know it should be done a few days before next period starts. But I need to know whether i need to take fertility drugs first or have biopsy first.
After having bloodwork done and knowing the level of progesterone, prolactin and TSH if the level of hormones is not normal will doctor prescribe me some fertility drugs to correct the level of the hormones or he'll do biopsy?
I wanna know what the doctor uses first: some drugs or does biopsy first or some other procedure ? I think i can't explain it good. I mean if the level of hormones is not normal and don't support implantation then doctor will treat it with the drugs or how? All I wanna say is I want to avoid biopsy hoping the drugs could help me first.
When do you get Clomid? Do you have biopsy before taking Clomid? I wanna cancel biopsy next week, i scheduled an appointment with my gyn to have biopsy done but first i'll have bloodwork done on Monday, so maybe i'll just wait for the results of blood test. 'Then i 'll miss the chance of having biopsy this cycle, maybe it's for better, who knows. Maybe i'll need just drugs to get pregnant.

Sorry if I didn't explain that very well, I just talked to my mom and friend in 2 different languages and then wrote this down in English, so 3 languages are mixed up in my mind. It always happens to me the day when i call my family or friends and have to switch to other languages. English is not my first language but i love this language very much. I think and dream in English.

Hi. *If I remember correctly* I had the biopsy done around the 5th day (after my period). Here's how my doc explained things to me. I had the bloodwork done (came back good), had the hsg done (came back fine), had the biopsy (came back good), my dh was tested 2x (he is great), I go in for the laproscopy in Aug - then will have the post-coital test - if all else is good THEN we discuss drugs. My doc told me he wanted to rule out all ends before putting me on drugs without knowing if/where my problem may lie. I wanted the drugs at first, bec I didn't want to go through all these tests ---- but I understand where he is coming from too. He wants to find out whats wrong - and treat what is wrong -- NOT treat me without seeing if he can find out whats wrong. GOSH ~ I hope that makes sense.
I hope this helps you in some way.... Good luck to you Sallyko. Keep us posted.

Thanks for replying to me.
I think your doctor didn't put you on any kind of drugs because all your tests came back normal.
Your bloodwork work was good so the level of hormones is fine. There is no reason to give you a medication unless you have a problem. Since the doctor can't find what's wrong with you, why you can't conceive he can't treat you if all tests you mentioned came back normal. Maybe it 's just a matter of time, it will happen all of a sudden and you'll conceive someday.
As far as I understood if my blood test results come back normal i'll have to go through other tests ( I had HSG too). But if the blood test results are not normal so i'll need to get some treatment and try ttc before going through the next steps of infertility treatment.
So, I'll find it out next week. So I think I have to cancel biopsy and wait for the results of bloodwork.

Thanks for info you gave me.
Baby hugs and kisses to you and all women who want to become a Mother.

How much does endometrial biopsy cost? I know that HSG is not expensive, i had it. What about EP? I think it maybe more expensive that HSG. Does anyone know how much it costs? I have an insurance to cover infertility treatment, i'm just wondering how expensive it is.

never mind. i've found some info online about the costs. HSG is more expensive than endo biopsy. HSG costs $200-$700 ; Endometrial biopsy - $75-$305 ; Laparascopy - $1,700 - $5,500.
I also read that the biopsy is performed in the second half of the cycle, usually just a few days before menstruation is expected.

Sallyko -- I was unaware of the costs for the biopsy, since I'm fully covered through Naval insurance. My hsg was closer to $700-900 total costs. Wow.. I didn't think the lap was that high, but I suppose it is since it is done while the person is under anistetic.
Thanks for sharing your cost information with the rest of us... I know I appreciate it. Its kind of interesting to know!
THANKS -- and baby hugs -- sticky dust to you!! *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

First you had HSG, then biopsy. How many weeks or months after HSG you had biopsy done?
i got HSG done in June, now it's been my second cycle since HSG was done. They say if a woman is lucky to get pregnant after HSG she'll achieve pregnancy within 3 months after having HSG.
My HSG was good, tubes are not blocked.
Maybe I have to wait for one more month, one more cycle. Who knows maybe i'll achieve pregnancy during these 2 cycles. Today is 19th day of my cycle and i feel so bloated, i feel like my belly is full, even my shorts got tighter. On my cd16 , 3 days ago i met my gyn and had some vaginal examination and urine tested for pregnancy too. I just went to talk to my new gyn and she reffered me to an infertility specialist. But first I'll get my bloodwork done, then biopsy and then I'll go to RE. I don't think urine test can indicate pregnancy on cd16. I don't know why i feel full, no other signs just fullness. Maybe it happened after vaginal examination. But i was examined 3 days ago.
My temps are high so ovulation has happened. We ttc till cd14 since cd10, so just 3 times every other day. I didn't ttc on cd16 since i got yeast and hate it. So i'm using some cream by prescription. I just hate yeast, it hasn't happened to me for the last 2 years.

good luck to all.
I wish everybody got a baby soon, it's a blessing. i have 3 years old daughter, so sweet. i got her easily during the first month of ttc. Now i have problems, so frustrating, but don't wanna give up.
May God bless us with the babies soon

sallyko ~

Here it is - I had my hsg done on 06May. Approx. 6 wks later I had the biopsy done (22Jun). I did hear that the first couple of months after the hsg are the better ones to be trying... but I needed to have the biopsy done so I could have peace of mind - also bec if I didn't have it done then, I would have had to of taken more time off of work this fall (I'm a teacher).

I was VERY hopeful (as was dh) that we were pg this month.... I ovulated while we were on vacation (delayed honeymoon) - we bd'd every day while we were gone. My boobs hurt from the 5th day after ovulation thru when af started. They hurt so severely that I couldnt' touch them without them feeling sore. I felt full - I had small headaches... I was sleeping more.... but AF showed her ugly face. That's what I have experienced. ~jen

Good luck to you... and everyone else ttc. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

I got HSG done in June 24th, so it's ok if i have biopsy in August 5th. i don't wanna cancel it. I'll just have it and be done. Today i've had my bloodwork done.
My dh will have a semen analysis.
So, all i have to do is to wait.

Jteaches thanks for replying to me, I appreciate it very much.
I hope we all will achieve pregnancy before the end of this year. :bouncing:

sallyko~ Good luck to you with the biopsy - you will feel cramping and sharp pains during it (at least I did). Take some motrin or something to help prior to going in for it. I have my laproscopy pre-op on that same day as your biopsy. I have the lap on Monday 09Aug.
I would definately still have the biopsy done -- at least you are weeding out different issues and trying to locate what it the problem area. At least that is how I'm trying to look at it.

GOOD LUCK -- let me know how it goes!

thanks for wishes. Yes, you're right we need to find out what's wrong with us.
You know today I got my bloodwork done as I told you and then as soon as i got home from the the laboratory I used the natural progesterone cream Happy PMS. It's first time. i didn't consult with the doctor. It's natural and it won't hurt i hope. I just wanna try it and see if it helps me. It's cd21, they say it should be applied after ovulation till onset of the next period. I've been just waiting for my blood tests to be done without using progesterone.
I read your post and as far as i know you're 31. I'm 36. I wanna you to know that when I was your age I wasn't even married and didn't have any boyfriend. I wanted to get married and then create a family, get the babies so my children will have a normal environment Dad and Mom. I got married at the age of 33 and got my first baby then. When you achieve something you don't care about what you had to go through to succeed, you just enjoy your success. I know it's hard , i understand your feelings, every normal woman wants to become Mother but remember the day when you get the baby all the pain you have experienced and people's comments will be forgotten.

Wish you success

I'm gonna have biopsy today at 3:45PM. It'll be exactly 3-4 days before the onset of my next period. You said you had yours done 5 days after your period. Why so early?
I searched Internet and all articles say the biopsy should be done a few days before the next period starts.
If the endometrial biopsy is being done to investigate why a woman is unable to get pregnant, the test must be performed at a specific time during the menstrual cycle. Since the test evaluates whether the endometrium is developed adequately to support implantation and growth of a fertilized egg, it is critical to perform the test approximately three days before the expected menstrual period. This will allow the doctor to correctly predict if the endometrium has been developing at the expected rate.
Are you sure you had biopsy 5 days after your period , maybe you made a mistake while typing, maybe you wanted to say 5 days before your period.
I'm having biopsy today on cd24, my period usually starts on cd28 or cd29.

I forgot to buy pain medication and the same happened before HSG , i forgot to take Motrin or Advil, but fortunately HSG wasn't painful at all. My sister had biopsy she didn't experience pain either.
I read that for some women HSG was the worst nightmare, biopsy wasn't painful or some of them had a painful biopsy and easy HSG. So it's different for each woman.
My sister at the age 29 ttc the second baby and they had no success for almost 2 years. She had biopsy done, it came out normal. She didn't get any treatment since she had no problems and then they conceived, she got pregnant at the age 31. She got her second baby girl.

Good luck to everyone and help us God

Sallyko -- I'm sorry I did mis-type. I had the biopsy 5 days before my period. I guess with all the stuff I've had done lately and with all the things going on this summer... my mind and fingers were just in a mood that day!!!! I go in today for my pre-op as Monday is my laproscopy procedure. I am not really looking forward to this... but I know that it is a step that needs to be taken... anyhow... have a good day - try to relax during the procedure... and let us know how it goes!!
Smiles -- and hugs

sallyko~ How was the biopsy? I was thinking about you today --
I hope your doing well - and able to get some rest and relaxation in tonight. Hopefully dh made you a nice dinner and is giving you some attention and lovin!
I went in for the pre-op of my laproscopy... not a fun morning... but I am ready to go for Monday. Just a bit nervous - thats all. I guess I'm just at the point where I want to know what's going on in my body -- and why dh and I aren't concieving yet. I know, I know - all good things come to those who wait. Well, darn it I'm tired of waiting! Doc told me that he would let dh know what he found, if anything - and we would go from there. I scheduled my follow-up apt (needed to do this ASAP, as I start back to a new school year on the 18th) - so I will know where we're going and what's next by then, if not sooner.

Have a good evening... Smiles & hugs...*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Hi Jteaches

My biopsy was ok, my dh watched our daughter while i was having biopsy. I was afraid of having pain as i didn't get any pain medication. But everything was alright. She has photos of irish castles on the ceiling and told me just to look at them and say what i think about them. It distracted me from thinking of pain. But I'm amazed I had no pain. I think it's because i had a vaginal birth 3 years ago and plus everyone's body reacts differently. My bloodwork came out normal, the level of prolactin and thyroid stimulating hormone is normal. She referred me to RE, so from now on i'll be going to RE. The results of biopsy will be known in 10 days. I didn't have progesterone tested, I don't know why she didn't order it I could have had it it was 21st day of my cycle. I think if I have luteal phase defect (low progesterone is responsible for LPD) endometrial biopsy will indicate it. So now I need just to be patient and wait for the results of my biopsy and dh's semen test.
My DH is very kind, caring person, he always helps me. He wanted to take us out to dinner but we got some friends over and couldn't go out so just ordered pizza (we do it once in awhile) because i didn't cook today, i usually cook almost every day.
So, all i need is a patience.
Good luck to you on laparoscopy. Everything will be alright. I hope we will conceive naturally, just wake up one day, take hpt and get a BFP.
Help us God
