Hello everyone,

I've been having problems for quite some time--about 9 months now that I have been barely functioning. I had low iron for quite some time (better now), think that there maybe be a Candida (yeast problem) and am now thinking that it may be an adrenal problem. I've done all the Thyroid tests about 6-7 months ago that came back normal. My symptoms are pretty debilitating and seem to be changing all the time. The only thing that's really been consistent the whole time is this horrible brain fog. I can't concentrate, can't think and my short term memory is shot. I haven't slept thru the night for 6 years (since my daughter was born). I'm up atleast 4-6 times per night-binging on sweets. I can only sleep in about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour intervals. It's been this way for so long. My mornings and early afternoons are horrible. Early evenings are much better for me. During the afternoon, I'll try to take a nap but am way to anxious and wired.

Other symptoms are: no motivation whatsoever, complete loss of interest in anything I used to love to do, exhaustion to the point of feeling like I'm drugged and can't get off the couch, I've just recently had for ONE day a Urinary tract infection that was gone in an instant but now have some major lower back pain in the kidney area.

My periods are very irregular-sometimes twice a month, sometimes I'll have it for 14 days with spotting. I just had my IUD removed last month. This month was my only normal period in I don't know how long probably because I'm now on the pill--and go figure, I "forgot" I shouldn't be on the pill because of the yeast issue. Anyhoo, I could go on forever with the ever changing symptoms but where I'm at now is this: I'm thinking I desperately need to do the Adrenal/Cortisol testing--you know the one they do 4 times during the day (saliva). I'm trying to get into the ENDO and would like to get these results before I go. What online labs have you all used and DO THE ENDO take these results or will I have to do them over again? Sorry this is so long and scattered. Thanks in Advance.

P.S. My mom has suffered for years will all these same symptoms-she has thyroid problems, diabetic and can't seem

Hey Chris,

Thanks so much for your reply. I did post my results on the Thyroid boards months ago. I didn't get much of a response as far as people thinking that I needed to proceed with a Thyroid diagnosis. What was it in my post that triggered Thyroid in your mind? Do you think this leans towards an Adrenal problem at all? Do you think I should proceed with doing the saliva cortisol testing?

Thanks again,

ssforcey

ssforcey, did I understand you correctly that your first symptoms started after the birth of your daughter? The reason I'm asking is that a lot of your symptoms, especially your irregular periods, sound like your female hormones might be out of whack. I've read that hormonal imbalances can cause brain fog, poor memory, inability to concentrate, insomnia and a host of other things, and that the pill or other synthetic hormones can sometimes actually make it worse. Have you ever been tested in that area?

As for the online labs, I did a saliva test a while ago from ZRT Labs, and I was very happy with their services. The test comprised both adrenal function and female hormones, and the results were very interesting. They also take into account a long list of possible symptoms you can check off on the requisition form, so maybe this would be of use to you as well.

HTH, and all the best! :)

Hi Crowgirl,

Most of this has only been going on for about 8 months. I actually haven't slept thru the night for 6 years. I had the IUD for about 5 years and have only been on the pill for one full month.

I also have considered that it could be something going on with my female hormones but not sure which ones to test. We (my OBGYN and me) were thinking that taking out the IUD might help but it may be too soon to tell. The IUD is also known to cause irregular periods.

I feel like I need to be tested for everything because at one time or another I've had a symptom that I may or may not have now. It's all just so hard to figure out. There was a time that i thought for sure it was my thyroid and when I got the results back from that I was floored. I just want a diagnosis then I can go from there. It's just the not knowing and wondering how long I'll have to go on with all these symptoms. With 2 little ones I feel like I'm missing out on so much.

Thanks for listening to me ramble. I really appreciate your help.
