I have stuggled with my weight my whole life. It wasn't until recently that I discoverd I have PCOS which makes it hard to lose weigh but I have managed to lose about 30 pounds. But somehow I always set myself back about 5lbs when someone brings home pizza or ice cream is there anyway I can keep my cool and not give into the temtation and the gaining of 5 extra pounds?

as long as it is famine weight the body will over ride your willpower to get you to crave and eat fat producing foods (foods that have high caloires for the density) which pizza and ice cream fit.

your body will fight you because it's main job is to keep you alive and famines of any kind self imposed or not is a fuel supply threat (remember the body just can't shut down when it runs out of ready fuel, what you have eaten, and wait for more fuel like a car running out of gas, ) it has to have a stored amount of fuel, (fat) and the fact you just lost 30 pounds (did you lose 8-10 sizes?) tells me you have triggored the survival mechnisms, the increase in appetite and increase in junk food cravings that are intense.

reason I asked if you lost 8 to 10 sizes is that fat is bulky, and 3 or 4 pounds of it is a size, whereas famine weight loss 10 pounds is a size, muscles are lost and they are denser, so the scale says a large loss but the size department shows only one size (so a loss of 3 pounds of fat) so you have lost muscle

I know they tout exercise as a way to preserve muscle while dieting the trouble is research belies that claim, I know people who lost weight and they are fatty, tho lower in weight overall but fatty, they lost muscles.

you can look at them and tell they are more fat then muscles, myself I have alot of fat but I also have alot of muscles, just ask my doctor, she couldnt' believe the muscles in my stomach, they were hard (despite having extra belly fat, just not as much)

of course I am off the topic, you lost willpower because your willpower conflicted with your survival instincts, when willpower works against a strong survival instinct then you will lose to that instinct sooner or later.

if you did not need the extra caloires (as far as teh body was concerned) you wouldnt find that food appealing even when presented with it, but since you have a famine to recover from you will continue to have this problem.

if you need furthur details look at other threads in the weight loss and obesity threads i have posted alot there.
