hi pls if u have any advice could u share .....my brother says his ear makes a strange noise at night, like its 'breathing', like the sound of the wind if you get me, ans sometimes he hears it pounding. he went to his GP and they said there is nothing wrong, and that there is no buildy up of wax or sign of infection.
he got quite annoyed at this as he knows himself when something is wrong with his body, and he knows its not normal for his ear to be making these sounds. it keeps him awake at night,
can anybody help?
thankx 4 ur time xxxxx

Do some research on "tinnitus" which is a condition where a person hears noises in the ear(s). Some people hear a high pitched ringing. Others hear all kinds of odd sounds, from "radio static" to wind, rushing sounds, gurgling, hissing etc. Usually no organic cause or disease process can be found but I agree with Lib, find a good ear/nose/throat physician if it continues.
The pounding sensation is a little more puzzling...although there is a form of tinnitus called "pulsatile tinnitus", where the particular sound the person hears "pulses" in rhythm with the heartbeat. This particular tinnitus can have an organic cause and definitely needs checking out.
