I have had allergies my whole life. I am now 24 and I have been treated by the doctor where I work at 4 times in the last 6 months for maxillary sinusitus. I have been to an ENT and was told that I have TMJ disorder, a polyp in my maxillary sinuses and a deviated septum. That said, I started immunotherapy 6 weeks ago. Ever since then I have been having a lot of congestion, sneezing, sinus pain, pressure etc, Well on July 25 my doc did sinus xrays and found again that I have maxillary sinusitis. He gave me a gram of Ancef injection, 1 Levaquin 750 that day and then started me on an 8 day course of Levaquin 500. This past Thursday the pressure in my head was still severe so I went to my allergist, She extended the Levaquin another 10 days and gave me Prednisone 40 mg for 6 days. The pressure is still there after 3 days of the Prednisone and now I'm itching all over, eating like crazy and I am in a verrrry bad mood. I called in sick to work today and now I am wondering what should I do next??
Thanks
Amanda

Prednsione and Levaquin are counter-indicated -they shouldn't be taken together. It enhances the chances of an adverse reaction.
An adverse reaction to Levaquin isn't just a stomach ache. It can be an Achilles Tendon rupture, Peripheral Neuropathy (burning, tingling, pain, all over the body), chronic tendonitis in the wrists and ankles, liver failure, psychosis, neuritis, Stevens Johnson Syndrome, and other scary stuff.
Professional Athletes and race horses are never given Levaquin. Wanna guess why? One pill, and you might never be able to throw a baseball again. Give Levaquin to a million dollar racehorse, and his value goes to zero -even if a reaction doesn't develop. Some people have their Achilles Tendons rupture 2 years after taking Levaquin.
Levaquin, Cipro, and Avelox are some of the most dangerous drugs on the market.
Prednisone also has nasty side-effects.
The itching might be a reaction to the Levaquin -the beginning of something really nasty. That's how it started with me. 2 weeks later, I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs or type. My recovery from the drug has been 4 months.
See if you can switch to Augmentin. I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like you need sinus surgery to remove the obstruction and clean out the gunk. Don't worry, the surgery is nothing -I went through it in March.

I have never heard of a bad interaction with prednisone and Levaquin. However, I feel Levaquin unfairly gets a bad rap. Still, it is a powerful drug and if I remember correctly was never meant to be prescribed more than 10 days at a time. I would go back to the doctor who originally prescribed it. I'm no doctor, but based on my experiences, the Levaquin probably killed all the bacteria and now your sinuses are trying to drain. You didn't say, but if you aren't taking a decongestant, you should be. Also, mucinex can really help thin the drainage. And really push the fluids to help thin out your drainage. Also a saline nasal spray or irrigation can really help get all the gunk out.
