I have some bewildering symptoms that are interfering with my sleep. It is mainly nasal stufiness in one side or the other. I constantly have to clear my throat especially when waking in the morning. It seems like my nose is not draining right. The worst is like I said when sleeping and I cant breathe right becuase of the stufiness in one side or the other of nose. Also I get watery eyes at times. I am taking zyrtec now and will see if that works. I also have bought a sinus irrigation product and will see if that works though. But I am wondering if zyrtec an antihistamine will help these problems? Is is normal to always feel stuffed up in the nose and throat and why only at night? thanks for the help everyone.

Why you normally feel stuffed up in the nose and throat at night? Maybe it's because that you might be allergic to dustmites? Does your mattress has anti-dustmite protectors? The antihistamine should be able to help with the mucus and watery eyes. Have you seen any doctors yet? The stuffiness in your nose might be cause by rhinitis which is the swelling of the turbinates. You have to clear your throat in the morning constantly because the mucus have flow to the back of your throat. That's my suggestions and I hope you find relieve soon!!!

Thanks for the advice. Yea, i saw a doctor but he doesnt know what cuases the symptoms (if I have allergies or just if my nose naturally has bad drainage and gets post nasal drip). I am thinking my condition is more of a nonallergic rhinitis because the antihistimines dont really help. Plus I have kept my house very clean. I think my nose doesnt have very good drainiage so that combination plus lying down and sleeping might cause even less drainage and stufiness at night. I am thinking nasal irrigation should help a bit. I cant go on a decongestant becuase it would keep me awake all night (check out my screen name: tooanxious) althought I am sure it would knock out the symptoms. I am hoping nasal irrigation and maybe a spray will keep my nose draining at night and cut down on the post nasal drip. I am tring my new irrigation netipot thing that washes out the sinuses before sleeping tonight.

I hope the irrigation will improve your symptoms!!! As whether your problem could be allergic, it could be done through a skin p-r-i-c-k test. Ya, decongestants do keep you awake! I have trouble sleeping too... If your problem is in the sinus, becareful of infections. Good Luck!
