My father-in-law recently suffered a stroke. He was paralyzed on his left side and was unable to move for nearly two months. Since then, he has made a miraculous recovery. He is able to walk unassisted and mentally, he is probably at about 85% of his former capacity.
He has always worked outside and loves to do things with his hands. However, he is not able to drive and he still gets tired pretty easily if he tries to do anything for too long, so he sits around a lot and watches TV, which is something he rarely did before the stroke. My wife worries about him just sitting idle all the time. My question is: Are there any exercises (for both physical and mental) that he might be able to do to help keep him sharp? Thanks in advance for any information.

You Would Probably Want To Ask His Doctor, When I Had My Stroke I Was Limited On What I Could Do At First. But It Is Not Good For Him To Sit Around B/c He Could Form A Blood Clot Which Is What Caused My Stroke.
