Hi there.
I am going to see a specialist on the 16th due to long term rectal bleeding with BM's.
The bleeding recently got much worse, and at the same time, I have begun to have really bad pain in my right thigh. This could be pure coincidence of timing, but this pain is really bad when it strikes.
It starts right at the top of my thigh, almost on my bikini line, and spreads down the front of the thigh and down the outside. Its very sharp, and its kinda like a nerve is being pressed.
As I said, this has begun since the bleeding got worse, but is most likely coinsidental.
Does anybody know of any conditions that cause bright red rectal bleeding but also Bad leg pain.
Any replies would be gratefully recieved
Kind regards

 hi english-rose, i'm new here but like you i'm having a real bad time with bleeding every time i have a bm. i'm in uk too and have had a nightmare trying to get a referral from gp but am seeing a consultant on friday for a private appt as the wait on nhs was 13 weeks at least. I work in the nhs but sometimes a bit of knowledge is a bad thing  I cant throw any light on the pain in your leg i'm afraid, but it may well be a coincidence. worth mentioning when you see your consultant though. Its rubbish having symptoms and not knowing, you just want someone to tell you what it is and make you better. but its good knowing that your not the only one!
take care

The pain you described is one symptom on a pinched nerve or herniation in your lower lumbar spine. Did you ever hurt your back in any way in the past?
I'm not, however, sure if it could be related to the bleeding.

Hi, Thanks so much for taking the time to reply :-)
I have a long term back problem................ where 3 of the discs in my lumbar spine collapsed, and I have often had sciatica with it, but its not that kind of pain, its wierd, its like the muscle is being torn, or pulled in some way, its really hard to describe, its as if someone got hold of the muscle right at the top and started yanking on it, or putting a pile of bricks on it, ike stretching it i guess and this causes the pain then down my leg, I know that sounds really wierd but that is the only way I can think to describe it.
It is probably nothing to do with the bleeding, but is just wierd that at the same time as the bleeding got really bad, like 3-4 times a day, the leg pain began at the same time.
As I said its probably coincidence, but non the less, worrying
