Hi: I’m new as a poster, but I have visited before. I am 39 and quite frightened by my rapid decline in health over the past few months.

I am currently under the care of an endocrinologist, but I would like anyone thoughts on y test results.

ACTC in the afternoon – started at 3 and went to 9. Doctor says this is “blunted and abnormal”. Does this level meet the clinical definition of Addison’s ?

Pituitary function is “somewhat” low (don’t have numbers) and I have extreme Vitamin A excess and extreme Vitamin D deficiency. I have also developed chronic bronchitis and sinus allergy symptoms although the blood says I am negative for allergies. Finally, I have pronounced hypogandism. ALL other tests – blood, CT, MRI, etc – are normal.

Doctor says I have an “evolving” adrenal pituitary axis problem, the cause if which is still under investigation.

Any ideas what is going on with me ?

Many thanks in advance for any responses!

Chris:

I have an apt. with the doctor again tomorrow and will report the results to you.
I'm not sure if I was tested for the things you mentioned, but they have taken a lot of blood over the past few months. As Forest Gump said (I think it was from Gump), "when I cut myself shaving the only thing that comes out is air."

One thing that I have been investigating deeply is whether a vasectomy I had 3 years ago could be causing problems - autoimmune problems related to the whole pituitary, adrenal axis. The more research I do, the more I am astounded at the potential adverse affects on the immune system from vasectomy. Ever heard of this ? Do a search fro Dr. H.J. Roberts MD, a well respected physician in West Palm Beach.
Thanks!

Chris, I failed to answer one of your questions. The hair on my left leg came out suddenly two years ago in a well-defined area about 5 inches long and 1 inch wide. In that area it is completely bald. Te rest of the leg is fine. Just this Spring the hair on my right leg cam out suddenly in identical fashion, appearance, size of bald spot, etc. Very odd.

Chris:

Yes, the shins.
The docotr didn't have anthing new today. He did another ACTH test, gave me more inhalers and antibiotics and told me to come back in 3 weeks. By the way, this is the 9th docotor I have seen. I am paying him a premium to investifate the matter. I told him that he if he doesn't have an answer then it's OK to say so, but I just want his promise that he will try to find an answer. At this pint it looks like he will place me on a steroind and see what happens. My intuition tells me there is more to the story.
It's frustratiing that I offer information/suggestions, etc and it seems quickly or summarily rejected as immaterial or irrelevent.
