Bella535 08-04-2004, 10:22 AM Hi, I went to my gyn last night and was given a prescription of clomid. I wanted to know if anyone here has gotten pregnant by using clomid and has anyone had multiple births? Thanx Sponsor mizzjessie 08-04-2004, 10:30 AM I just finished my first month of clomid and took a home ovulation test this morning that showed 2 lines. Should be O in 24-36 hrs so I am hoping to get prego off this. Sorry I could not help. :) Bella535 08-04-2004, 10:43 AM thanx for your response and I wish you the best. DSAK143 08-04-2004, 11:35 AM I got PG in two cycles with Clomid and IUI. It was a single child. HTH!! Doreen stephanie72 08-04-2004, 12:14 PM I got pregnant on my 2nd cycle of Clomid, but also with and HCG trigger shot to induce ovualtion and IUI (intrauterine insemination). I believe there is/was only one, but unfortunately, we believe I'm in the process of losing that baby right now. I'm 6wks pregnant today. But the stuff did work!! :-) I was taking 100mg. Bella535 08-04-2004, 01:41 PM Stephanie it seems that alot of ppl who get pregnant on clomid loose their babies does that sound accurate? sallyko 08-04-2004, 02:33 PM Hi Do you take Clomid to fix a luteal phase defect? As far as I know Clomid is one ways of treating LPD. I think I have it too, my biopsy will show it tomorrow I hope. I can see it by my BBT charts. Have you ever used Vitex (of course if you have progesterone deficiency)? As I see by posts alot of people take Clomid. Don't they use Vitex for that purpose? Vitex is often used to help infertility caused by a luteal phase defect (a shortening of the post-ovulatory part of the menstrual cycle). Women taking vitex for three months appear to have more success at becoming pregnant. The herb vitex can help the body establish a proper balance between estrogen and Progesterone by encouraging the production of progesterone. Modulates progesterone levels by increasing luteinizing hormone and decreasing follicle stimulating hormone in the pituitary gland Modulates prolactin secretion from the pituitary gland. Has anybody taken Vitex before Clomid? Just wondering Good luck DSAK143 08-04-2004, 02:37 PM S- I'm sorry to hear about your loss....I lost my baby too 7/23/04 :( At my 8 week u/s my baby was measuring almost two weeks too small, so I waited three weeks and went for another u/s, where they told me that the baby had died a week and a half before. I had a D&C the next day :( B-As far as my research indicated there is no correlation between m/c and the use of clomid. However, my research did indicate that 1 in every 5 pregnancies end in m/c. So the odds are high for a m/c naturally. Someone may have more info on the subject. I wish us all luck on this bumpy road of infertility. Doreen stephanie72 08-04-2004, 09:53 PM You know, I'm not sure about a higher level of miscarriage while on Clomid. I haven't heard about that. I definitely lost the baby. I was 6wks today. My beta levels are already declining and I'll have a D&C on Friday. I'm not real sure what to expect, but I'm glad to be able to move on now. Good luck to you with your Clomid. honeybeems 08-06-2004, 12:11 PM i took clomid for all 3 of my pregnancies. 1st took 4 cycles, 2nd took 2, and the 3rd took 1. all were singleton. good luck. sallyko 08-06-2004, 08:51 PM I read about that the relationship between clomiphene and ovarian cancer has long been a concern and the honest answer is that they still do not know for sure. No significant increase in ovarian cancer rates has been seen since the use of clomiphene became common, although one study published in 1993 implicated clomiphene use for greater than twelve months with a possible increase in cancer risk. For these reasons clomiphene should be used for a relatively short time only. I'm not sure if i use it or not and if the doctor prescribes that to me. I don't know my problem yet to deal with, i have to wait for the biopsy results. Sometimes I think i might just ttc naturally every month and see what happens though i'm 37 and there is no time to wait, but i still can ttc one more year. I have a daughter, and want to give her a sibling and they will be great friends in the future, support each other morally. The more i read about hormone therapy the more i get afraid of it, i don't wanna increase the chance of getting cancer in the future or some other problems. I don't know what to think and do, i just prefer to have a natural way without interference with my body's natural functions. sallyko 08-07-2004, 10:01 PM one more question. If conception does not occur after a cycle of clomiphene citrate, an ultrasound of the ovaries needs to be done to determine if an ovarian cyst is present. Ok, what if there is an ovarian cyst after a cycle of Clomid? Then what? Does it go away by itself? Do we need to have a surgery to remove it? Or what? Has anyone experienced that? DSAK143 08-08-2004, 11:07 AM If a cyst is present you take a break that month and the cyst goes away by itself. I know some women had to take a break every other month due to cysts. I didn't have this problem while on Clomid, but if i dd i would probably switch meds, due to all the time that would be wasted on waiting for the cyst to clear.... HTH, D sallyko 08-08-2004, 12:20 PM There are other ways of treating LPD. Not just by Clomid. Does the doctor prescribe Clomid first? Why not natural progesterone cream? I wanna buy Dr. Lee's book and read about natural hormone therapy. When you to talk to your RE have you ever asked about the side effects of hormone therapy? About the risks later in life? I remember some woman was taking Clomid and had a problem with vision and she stopped taking it, she got pregnant after that. But i'm just concerned about the sides effects of the hormone therapy which are ingnored by a doctor and patient. I understand, it might be the only way to achieve pregnancy for alot of women. Yesterday i found some info about Depo Provera shots for bc and it was so scary. Effect of depo on a woman is individual. I didn't know that Depo might cause even loss of vision and hair. Depo is a big hormonal shift, it's not like bc pills. That's why it's hard to get pregnant after that, often it takes years. I was on depo 2 years ago, got 3 shots and all i had is pain in my arms, legs, joints, weight gain, depression, was irritated, nervous. For lots of women Depo was and is a nightmare, i was lucky i didn't have severe side effects, i got my period back right away after i stopped getting shots. When the doctors try to deny the connection between depo and the side effects of that the women get while being on depo it looks like they don't care about their health and it makes me so mad, when they say you stopped it and it'll be out of your system in 6 months. But it doesn't take 6 months , in general it takes up to 18 months, for some people up to 2-3 years and more. And even if we stop getting the shots and it's out of system but the depo leaves lots of problems for women to deal with, first of all hormonal imbalance. I wish i met a doctor who would just be honest and said to me:'I don't recommend it to you, even if FDA approved it." You know the doctors are not ignorant, they know that and have a good practice and experience , have lots of patients and know what the patients go through by using a certain drug , I mean they know the side effects of the drugs. Why can't they just do that? Or they may get some benefits from that. I'm still waiting for the results of endo biopsy. I got my period yesterday and had sharp abdominal pain last night, couldn't sleep good. I usually don't get sharp pains during menses. I had biopsy done on Thursday, and was fine, no pain, just spotting 2 days, very little. Last night on Saturday i had sharp abdominal pain and I got my period yesterday in the evening, my cd1. I don't have pain now. Do you think I had it because of biopsy? Is it normal to have a pain during menses after biopsy. I think so much about the hormone therapy and hesitate to call my RE and make an appointment, my first appointment. Is there some center of chinese medicine where i can get treated by herbs? I have to find out. Good luck ladies sallyko 08-08-2004, 04:13 PM DSAK I'm sorry that you lost your baby. I've just read your posts. Why did it happen? Did you take Clomid for LPD? Was the level of progesterone normal? Clomid normalizes the balance between estrogen and progesterone, if i'm not mistaken, then why did you miscarry? I really don't know what to do, go ahead call my RE or just take herbs. I need to make an appnt with my RE, it's the first time i'm going to re. Good luck to you DSAK143 08-09-2004, 09:34 AM S- Thank you.... I wasn't taking clomid for LPD...rather my DH has poor morphology. All of my tests were normal and above normal...even my beta's tripled...I do not know what went wrong but will find out at next re appoint 8/19. I'm sorry that i do not have the answers to your questions.. but clomid worked relatively fast for me. Good luck to you and DH!!!!! Keep us posted!! D |
