View Full Version : Sex after Leep - I am so scared

I had a pap smear, biopsy and colposcopy three weeks ago and I was diagnosed as having High-risk HPV and CIN-1. My doctor told me not to have sex after the biospsy. However after two days, I let my husband penetrate just the opening of the vagina and with not much friction. Now, I am scared that he might have shed more virus into the biopsy cuts because I still have some pain. I believe I got the virus from him because his ex-girlfriend had a LEEP before.
Is my question even possible? That I had received some viral load and this could be dangerous if I still have fresh wound from the biopsy? I am terrified, this is consuming my thoughts. I cannot even work or do anything else.
I don't want to ask the doctor because he might be upset with me for not following his advice (but I thought that just the friction to the cervix was the danger, did not know anything about new exposure to the virus).

Thank you for any help you can provide!
Lucky

The great  thing about HPV is that you can't "reinfect" yourself. Once you have it, that's it! The only way that you can get a "new exposure" to the virus is if your husband, lord forbid, cheats and brings home a new strain. You should, however, follow the dr's orders and refrain from intercourse until he says so. You could set back the amount of time that your cervix needs to heal.
