21 year old male here. Last tuesday I pretty much lost my virginity to another lady, and I did use a condom, so that's not the problem. I did however give her oral, thinking it was all right. Well, around monday night I notice that the back right of my gums have been feeling a bit sore, and I believe I may have a sore back there. Now, my mouth has been a haven for canker sores in the past and I believe I may have had a canker sore back there before. But still, it has me pretty worried. So is it possible that I contracted something, or am I just being paranoid?

It's possible that you may have contracted something, but it's more likely that you have a canker sore. Have you looked at it?

I have, and I think I can barely see it. It looks like a sore, and no puss building around it. There's nothing out of the ordinary, just freaky that it comes a week after my experience.

Well, a lot of times things are only coincidence, but we try to connect them to certain events that happened, just so we can freak ourselves out :)
Consider, though, that canker sores are an autoimmune response to something that has happened in our mouths, like biting our tongues, scratching our gums with food, etc. Perhaps the oral sex you performed compromised the integrity of your oral mucosa in some way, and you got a canker sore.

Well, it is feeling less sore today. I have no weird bumps on my penis. Everything in my mouth looks normal with the exception of that one sore. I do admit I've been a bit stressed over this lately, and I probably won't be completely relieved till it's gone. I just don't like the coincidence of it all. Canker Sores through Oral Sex though, that's a new one to me.

Just to be clear, oral sex doesn't TRANSMIT canker sores. Canker sores aren't contagious. They are an autoimmune response from your own body. I was just speculating that perhaps performing oral sex produced some sort of abrasion in your mouth that led to a canker sore. But more than likely your canker sore has nothing to do with your sexual experience last week.

Well, the sore is all but gone now, so I guess it was a canker sore. Now what has me worried is my throat has been feeling kinda funny, which I've heard is also a symptom for an STD. Now, my allergies was starting to act up around the same time and I sleep with the A.C. on, so I could've gotten sick from that. So the throat could just be a coincidence too...just one too many coincidences to be having this week.

Oh yea. I'm not worried about that anymore. The canker sore is all but gone now. It's the throat that has me wondering right now. It doesn't feel sore but it doesn't feel right at the same time. I figured maybe it's gonnorhea of the throat but I'm reading up on the internet saying that that type of gonnorhea is very rare...putting me a bit more at ease. And I know it could either be the allergies or the A.C. making my throat like this. Still, can't help to wonder. I'll give it a few days and see if it gets better or worse.

Ugh...that's it. I'm really starting to put too much stress on myself. My throat might be getting a bit worse, and now I'm worried about under my tounge. I could swear that underneath my tounge is starting to look a little too red and I see a coulple of bumps. But then I realize "I don't look under my tounge that much". And the bumps I'm sure have always been there, and I'm probably just exagerating the whole thing. But...I'm just really starting to think about this too much, so I might go to a clinic to get myself tested for oral STD's, just for the sake of putting myself at ease. So I've got just a couple of questions.
1) What type of tests do they do for Oral STD's?
and...
2) Is it really necessary for me to be tested for a genital STD if I wore a condom and did not have oral performed on myself? I heard those could be pretty painful.

Well, I'm gonna try and take something for my throat since it has in fact gotten worse over the past couple of days. If it doesn't get better by next week I'll make an appointment with the doctor and see what he says. It's the family doctor and I'm not really looking forward to telling him about my experience...but I wanna make sure he knows so that if it is something like oral gonnorhea, he won't miss it.

I believe it is just a canker sore, but if I were you, if conditions do not improve I would go see a physician to diagnose what is going on with your gums.
