Hi all,

Thanks to all those who have given me advice. I went back to my orthopedic Dr and he got the report from the neurologist. It wasn't good. The neurologist feels I have CTS that is severe. My Dr wants to do surgery and I have it scheduled for Monday morning at 8 am. My problem is compounded in that I have two problems. The CTS and a trigger thumb. He will be doing a CTS open release as well as a thumb release. I will have two incisions. Is there anyone else out there who has had both these problems and had them fixed at the same time?
Thanks Scott for the pictures. I have been wondering what the badage will look like. The Dr says I will have a heavy splint after the surgery and two days post op he will remove that and replace it with a lighter splint. I worked in a customer service type of job which involves alot of computer usage. I only hope I won't be laid up too long.

Hi Missy,

Good luck on your surgery. I hope all goes well for you. I have mild CTS according to the nerve conduction studies but i have a lot of discomfort in my hands and wrists. I got cortisone shots about 1 month ago. That didn't help at all. I am probably going to have the mini open procedure in sept or oct. Everyone I know who has had the surgery has had good results. Please let me know how everything works out

Hi all,

I am now home from my surgery and in the pre-op area I got to talk to my Dr and he said he really felt that we should wait and see if the trigger thumb rights itself. He said the added surgery on thumb poses too many risks at this point in the game. I am feeling good right now and I think I really surprised the nurses with how fast I was awake and ready to go. My fingers were not numb after surgery but now that I am home they are very numb. I took my percocet and I am going to go and lay down for a bit. I really am surprised how much mobility I have with my hand. If all continues to go well I will be back to work on Thursday. I also went and bought a trackball to use at work so that should make my job alot easier. Thanks again everyone for your well wishes and good thoughts.

Missy
