Anyone ever had this done? I was thinking about it, but I've heard its expensive and very, very painful! ....and they wax every single little thing? True? Would it even be worth it?

No, it's not too expensive... just varies from salon to salon...and pain? I suppose it depends on your pain tolerance and how badly you want it done! Yep, they remove everything... ;) If you just want some removed, opt for a bikini wax.

they take out everything - including the backside hairs. lol yes, it's expensive, but in my opinion, definitely worth it. you dont get the itchies when it grows back, and it grows back thinner (not spiky) lol and it stays smooth for about 2-3 weeks. the pain - well, pop in a couple motrins or something with ibuprofen about an hour and a half before you go and it'll help a little bit. and seriously dont go a week before your period. :nono: i didnt believe the whole it hurts more before ur period thing, so i tried it, and let me tell you.. it DEFINITELY hurts more.

try it.. my boyfriend loves it - and i do too. it feels better when you're intimate AND u can wear skimpy bikinis w/ no problems.

I'm a lover of brazillian waxes too. I've been getting mine done for almost 2 years now and although it still hurts it is definately worth it. I sometimes take Ibuprofen before I go, but b/c I've been doing it for so long it doesn't really hurt all that much now. I'm actually getting it done again on Saturday and I'm looking forward to it. I will be smooth and hair free again! :bouncing:

I agree, 2-3 week of smooth skin, you will really agree that it is worth it. I have also been getting mine done for about a year and half and the pain has gotten a lot better. In the very beginning if I had to rate the pain, with 10 being the most painful I would give it about a 7. It truly is not as bad as you may think.
Good Luck!!!

Thanks a bunch for the replies...but how do you scout out someone who knows what they're doing? The place where I get my eyebrows done doesn't do brazilians, only bikinis. I'm not exactly shy, so having someone see my stuff doesn't bother me, I just don't want someone with little experience, or someone who would feel akward doing it!

Can someone answer my question about brazilian waxes?--- do they wax your whole genital area?

And is it recommended to wear cotton undies for the first couple of days??

Yes they wax the whole genital and anal area. There's sometimes a little bit of inflammation afterwards but doesn't last long. So, you shouldn't have to wear cotton panties.

You do NOT have to get the entire area waxed if you don't want it. A traditional "Brazilian wax" actually leaves a strip of hair down the center. At the spa I go to, when you ask for a brazilian wax they will leave a strip unless you state otherwise.

Whatever you want done, tell them and they'll understand!

After my first time I was a little swollen and red for a day or two, but it really wasn't that bad at all... no need to wear different panties or clothing. The procedure really doesn't take long at all, and when it's done you'll think, "that was it?!". It is soooo worth it! And the more you do it, honestly the less it hurts! I've only had it done three times and I've noticed a huge diff already. Good luck!!

How long do you have to wait to get another one after you get one? I mean, do you have to let the hair grow out substantially? That would bother me! I've thought about trying it, I'm a shaver.

I usually apply Ban NONSCENTED deodrant on the shaved area to prevent ingrown hair and redness as well as pimples.

I usually wait about 4 weeks to get mine re-waxed, but if you find that your hair is growing back faster then you can get it done earlier. My hairs tend to be about 0.5cm or so when I get mine redone. I would do it more often (every 3 weeks) but I can't afford it.

How long does the hair have to be, does it look like a really bad "noticeable" regrowth? That would kind of bother me....

Crazyaboutblue, what does the Ban deodorant do? Thanks! :)

I don't know what your perception of "bad" regrowth is, but yes, it is noticable. But it is not that bad really. As I said, mine is normally about 0.5cm when I get rewaxed. My hair grows back quite sparse now b/c I've been doing it for about 2 years. The hair will grow sparser the longer you do it.

UNSCENTED deodrant, especially brand name BAN, helped prevent ingrown hairs and irritation. I apply after shaving/shower.. make sure its dry, and i just apply it on the area I shaved. I never get ingrown hair or redness/bumps.

If there are just a few hairs she missed, just pluck them and they'll grow at the same rate as the rest of the hair that was removed. But if there are a lot, and you don't feel like plucking.. you could either wax the rest off yourself (if you have anything), or just keep shaving that part.

Please forgive me for my ignorance on this topic, but, is all the hair removed from the entire area? Around your anus, etc? Do you have to remove your panties? Is this embarrassing at all? I have seen "home" kits at the drugstore? Has anyone tried to do it themselves? Or would it be too difficult?
