I posted this in the general health board before I realized there was a board for hearing.
"Everytime the dog barks, I hear a high pitched noise, if dishes clash, or even if someone slightly changes the pitch of their voice I just can't stand it. It hurts, not like the pain from an ear infection... I guess 'it hurts' is just my way of describing it... I don't know how else to describe it. any ideas on what could be wrong?"
Thats what I posted it seems to get worse everyday, what could be wrong?

Lonely October,
I am only 19 years old, but I have been through more ear trama then most people who are actually born deaf. Your symptom remind me of some that I had. I had an infection in my only hearing ear, along with that I had poor dranage. There would be times when my ear would just suddenly pop open, and all the sounds I heard , I could almost feel them, kind of like a knife, a sharp shooting pain down my ear, but what i was were "normal sounds". What was happening, since my drainage was so bad, when (very rarely) when the ear canal opened up, the sounds vibrated at an even higher pitch, which hurt my ears. I would go home crying from school because the classroom was too loud, it hurts you physically and emotionally. Drainage is definatly the problem here. you should go to a ear specialists and they can help you with immediatly. They might need to insert tubes in your ear for better drainage. good luck

I had the same problem. My ear infection stayed in my ear for over 4 years. It eventually ate away all my ear bones and ear drum. I had to have emergency surgery, a week before prom, missed graduation to prevent the infection from spreading to my brain. and guess what??? I now wear a hearing aid in my only good hearing ear. You don't know how precious your hearing is until you loose it.
you need to see a specialist. I wish you the best of luck.
